Hiring a Student Employee

C of I departments that have department budget funding or grant funding for student employees (non-work-study students) can work with the PEAK Center to advertise available student employee positions (https://collegeofidaho-csm.symplicity.com/)  Please note that students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours a week.

If this is the first time a particular position is to be filled, the supervisor must contact Human Resources first to ensure we have the appropriate information in place to set up the new position. 

Once a student has been selected to fill a student employee position, the supervisor must submit to Human Resources a completed Student Hire Notification form. NOTE: Student employees CANNOT begin working until they have complted the employment process with Human Resources.  Human Resources will confirm once the student is entered in our HRIS and eligible to begin working.

Supervisors and students have a shared responsibility for timely completion and approval of monthly timesheets for payroll purposes. For guidance in this area, you can contact the Business Office (payroll) or Human Resources.
