Research Interests:
• Lipid and lipoprotein biochemistry and metabolism, lipid oxidation, isolation and analysis of atherosclerotic markers, labeling, subfractioning of various lipids and lipoproteins, gas chromatography, high pressure liquid chromatography, conjugated dienes, ultracentrifugation and use of various techniques for quantification of lipids and lipoproteins, and human insulin responses and diabetics.
• Applied Physiology and adaptations to exercise training – interested in cardiovascular, metabolic, hematological, biochemical, and overtraining markers associated with physical performance and conditioning of athletes.
• Coronary Heart Disease Risk Factors (CHD) and preventive interventions – interested in CHD factors to disease and reduction of risk factors through exercise and preventive measures and practices in children and older adults. Specifically biomarkers of heart disease and heart failure of CVD.
• Exercise conditioning – interested in the effects of exercise on the metabolic, nutritional and dietetic factors associated with changes in biomarkers of fatigue, cytokines, myokines, cardiac biomarkers, insulin resistance and other hormonal and inflammatory markers associated with health, exercise, and training in symptomatic, healthy, recreational and elite athlete populations.
