Scott Johnson '11 will be attending Purdue University beginning Fall 2011, where he will begin studies toward an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He has been awarded the Andrews Fellowship to fund research in automatic control. (05/20/11)

Chris Lay  was awarded a $10.000 Public Impact Fellowship at UC Irvine. He also confirmed his dissertation defense date of June 2, 2011. (More on Chris here.)

Sean Long '01 earned his M.S. in geology from Idaho State University in 2004 and his Ph.D. in geology from Princeton University in September,  2010.  He is currently a Research Assistant Professor at  University of Nevada, Reno. His areas of expertise include geologic mapping, structural geology, and regional tectonics. (03/01/11)

Sam Becker '10 is set to graduate from Boise State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science in December,  2010.  He plans to pursue a Master's in Computer Science starting in the fall of 2011. (11/09/10)

Craig McGee '10 is working as an account manager at Clearwater Analytics. Clearwater Analytics is a financial reporting company based in Boise Idaho. (9/22/10)

Megan Longo '08 participated in the XI School on Instrumentation in Elementary Particle Physics sponsored by the International Committee for Future Accelerators Instrumentation, Innovation and Development Panel. The ICFA School 2010 took place at Centro Atomico Bariloche, Instituto Balseiro (CAB-IB), Bariloche, Argentina, Jan.11-22, 2010. On March 24, 2010 she gave her presentation entitled "Observation of a Large-Scale Cosmic-Ray Anisotropy" and passed her Master's examination. Megan has also just learned that she is the recipient of an NSF fellowship. She has accepted the fellowship and will be working with Colorado State University and the NSF to develop a research program.(6/1/10)

Thomas Simpson '05 graduated from Southern Methodist University on May 15th, 2010 with a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.  He is a Senior Systems  Engineer at Raytheon in Dallas, TX. (6/1/10)

Tegan Troutner '09 is currently in Reno, Nevada where she has an internship at the National Council for Juvenile and Family Court Judges, specifically in the Family Violence Department. She is taking the LSAT June 7, 2010 and going to law school in about a year. (6/01/10)

Class of 2010

Matthew Conner '10 will be taking a year off from school and moving back to Colorado. He then plans to return to school to seek a doctorate in mathematics. (6/2/10)

Alexandra Gertman '10 will be attending Boise State University beginning Fall 2010, where she will begin to work towards earning her M.S. in Mathematics, as well as working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She will also be working on her 5th internship at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) this summer 2010. (05/11/10)

Class of 2009

Benjamin Coate '09 recently entered into his first year of the Master of Architecture program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He is currently investigating topological relationships that exist in modern architecture, and using them to develop algorithms for self-organizing systems. (10/27/09)

Ashley Grealish '09 will be attending University of Denver in Denver, Colorado next year. She will be working toward getting her Master of Science in Finance. (9/04/09)

Sara Goltry '09 will be teaching math as an adjunct instructor for Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, OR, and in Caldwell, ID. (9/04/09)

Rich Hatch '09 is working for MyEdu.com, which is a company that helps high school seniors choose a college to attend, and helps college students complete their degree in four years. He describes it as an online registrar for every school in the nation. (9/02/09)

Sam Hardy '09 will be attending UC Davis in the fall to pursue a PhD in Applied Physics. He has been awarded a tuition waiver, living stipend, and research assistantship. (9/08/09)

Robert Hamilton '08 is going into his second year of his PhD program at UCLA in Biomedical Engineering. Robert is funded and employed by the Department of Neurosurgery and conducts research in the areas of Intracranial Pressure (ICP) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) (9/08/09)

Sara Kunz '08 just earned her Master's of Arts in Teaching from the College of Idaho. She is now teaching science at Kuna High School. (9/12/09)

Class of 2007

Kevin Makinson '07 earned a Master's Degree in Radiation Health Physics from Oregon State University in July, 2009. He recently started the PhD program at OSU in Radiation Health physics and passed his qualifying exam in October 2009. (12/07/09)

Bert Martin '07 earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Boise State University in May, 2009. He is currently working for Clearwater Analytics in Boise doing data analysis. (11/11/09)

Dimitri Silva '07 has been working as an Associate Portfolio Manager for Fixed Income Hedge Funds at AllianceBernstein L.P. in New York, NY for the last two years. He is sitting for the final part of the Chartered Financial Analyst program in June 2010 and hopes to pursue an MBA in the future. (12/07/09)

Jared Smith '07 completed his Ms in Physics from Colorado State University in the spring of 2009. His master's defense was entitled "Quasiclassical Approach to Weak Localization". He is currently working for the forest service. (1/12/10)

Vince Telleria '07 is currently attending Boise State University working on his Master's in Computer Science. He is also a software engineering intern at Clearwater Analytics in Boise. (12/07/09)

Ciara Tippin '07 currently attending Illinois Institute of Technology where she is working towards a Master's in Architecture. Last March she was in New Orleans working to build a zero-carbon community for those residents who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. (10/04/09)

Corey Westfall '07 is currently in his second year of graduate school at Washington University in St Louis. He is in the lab of Dr. Joseph Jez working towards his PhD in biochemistry. He received an NIH training grant for his tuition and stipend. (12/07/09)

Class of 2006

Ryan Abo '06 is a first year student in the Biomedical Informatics Ph.D. program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. This year he has mainly focused on required course work, and at the end of the term will take a comprehensive exam followed by an oral exam. The focus of his Ph.D. will be in the field of genetic epidemiology, and he will be working on new methods for identifying and localizing genes associated with human disease using extended pedigrees. Max Bronsema '06 is currently working part time at NW Technology, where he has worked for the past three years. He is also attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA and is in his final year of the Master In Teaching Program. His endorsements will be in Economics and Social Studies. He has recently won a fellowship and has been appointed as a Graduate Assistant teaching 300 and 400 level classes for Information Technology for Educators. He attended a really exciting retreat with other educators this summer where he discussed sustainability and systems thinking and how to integrate both into curriculum. He is hoping to have curriculum published later this summer on the Curriculum for the Bioregion project website. (9/02/09)

Neill McGrath '06 graduated with a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Boise State University in May 2009. He has accepted a job with Clearwater Research in Boise. His job is working out great and soon he will get to put his statistics to use! (10/04/09)

Teale Toweill '05 graduated with a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in June 2008. She is currently attending the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and expects to complete her Master of Laws in November 2009. She will begin work as an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in Washington, D.C. in January 2010. (9/11/09)

Class of 2003

Jenny Newbry '03 has just accepted an Actuarial Analyst position at Blue Cross of Idaho. She will be the fifth member of the Actuary Department there, and will help with data collection and statistical analysis to determine insurance rates. She is also excited to begin studying for and taking the actuarial exams, a process that typically lasts 8-10 years and results in Actuarial Fellowship. (2/2/05)

Elizabeth Dietz Butterfield '02 is a Civil Engineer in the Transportation Department at CH2M HILL in Boise and loves every minute of it. Her husband works there too, which sure saves a lot of gas money! (9/02/09)

Class of 2000

Allen Mann '00 completed his Ph.D. in Logic at the University of Colorado at Boulder in May 2007. He is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Colgate University. He has accepted a one-year position (for AY 2008-2009) with the possibility of renewal at the College of St. Catherine, a four-year catholic women's college in St. Paul, Minnesota. Class of 1999

Jean H. Burns '99 is a plant ecologist working on the causes of invasiveness. She got her Ph.D. from Florida State University with Thomas E. Miller in 2006. She is currently the Tyson Research Center Postdoctoral Fellow and is collaborating with Dr. Tiffany M. Knight on the demography of invasive plants. She will be continuing her postdoctoral research as the Center for Population Biology Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Davis, in the fall of 2008, and will be collaborating with Dr. Sharon Y. Strauss on the role of phylogenetic novelty in invasions. Her work includes plant ecology, phylogenetic comparative methods, and demographic modeling. (4/25/08)

Class of 1997

Anna Davis (Bogomolets) '97 earned her Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Kentucky, Lexington in 2002. She held a visiting lecturer position at the University of Nevada, Reno from 2002 to 2005. She is currently an assistant professor of mathematics at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, OH.
