Washington Educator Career Fairs- The Washington School Personnel Association (WSPA) is sponsoring two career fairs this spring.  The first is Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Spokane Convention Center and the second is Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Tacoma Dome.  Both these career fairs are among the best in the Northwest.  Over 27 school districts from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, and Utah will be attending.  For more information and registration materials go to www.wspa.net

This is an excellent way for school district representatives to meet and interview candidates for classroom positions. It is also a great opportunity for candidates in the field of education to interview in one place with 12 school districts.

Job Summary: Ability to teach all levels of high school mathematics curriculum under the supervision of the high school principal.
Essential Job Functions:
Ø      Teach all levels of high school mathematics (grades 9-12).
Ø      Work successfully with different levels of learners in the same classroom.
Ø      Work with an interdisciplinary team to create a positive, interactive learning environment.
Ø      Effective utilization of a variety of technology tools to support instruction and the management of the classroom environment.
Ø      Use research proven instructional strategies.
Other Job Functions:
Ø      Provide each student with a successful experience in the classroom.
Ø      Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Experience Required: High school teaching experience is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Thorough knowledge of theory and content in all levels of Mathematics. Clear written and oral communication skills.  Demonstrated flexibility in working with parents, students, and staff.  Interest and demonstrated ability to be part of a team.
Licenses & Certifications: A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement/s as required by law or major in subject matter being taught.  Applicants with a K-12 standard certificate may qualify with 45 credits in subject matter.
Compensation: State Salary Allocation Model per the BIEA negotiated agreement.

Location:   Heartland High School
Duties: Classroom instructor in High School English courses responsible for preparation, instructional delivery, assessment and discipline at a small alternative high school for at-risk students.  Instructional responsibilities in Speech, Humanities, Health, Developmental Reading and PE may be required.
Qualifications: Must have an Idaho teaching certificate in English. Certifications/Endorsements, or the ability to obtain certification, in Speech, Humanities, Developmental Reading, PE and Health are desirable.
