Honors Fellowships and Scholarships

This site provides information on selected national fellowships and scholarships. It is a partial list, and includes those awards that are currently overseen by the Honors Awards Committee at The College of Idaho.

All of the awards listed below are nationally competitive and are appropriate for students demonstrating the highest levels of excellence in academics. Most are also geared to provide support for graduate level study or research leading to advanced degrees beyond the B.A./B.S., although some - notably the Goldwater, Truman, and National Security Education Program - are designed to provide support during the undergraduate years.

If you believe you have the credentials to successfully apply (a 3.5 GPA should usually be considered an absolute minimum requirement, a 3.7 GPA preferred), please do not hesitate to contact the faculty member listed with each award (but please read the materials and explore the links provided before doing so).  If you decide to apply, please look at the Wesleyan Grants and Fellowships Guide for advice on writing a strong application and START EARLY!   It is difficult to produce a strong application with only a few weeks of preparation.

The awards are listed (in each section) in order of application deadline.

Awards: Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors (National Security Education Program; Harry S. Truman Scholarships; Goldwater Scholarships in Science, Math and Engineering; Morris K. Udall Scholarships; Rotary International Scholarships)

Awards: Seniors and recent graduates (Rhodes Scholarships; British Marshall Scholarships; Mitchell Scholarships; Gates Cambridge Scholarships; Fulbright Student Grants; Hertz Foundation Fellowships; National Science Foundation (NSF)  Graduate Fellowships; Javits Fellowships; James Madison Fellowships; Rotary International Scholarships)

Awards: Recent graduates engaged in graduate study (American Association of University Women Fellowships; Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships for Minorities)

In addition to the awards listed on this site, there are many more for resourceful students to investigate. Visit the Campus Career Center, but also have a look at these sites below for more information:
