The British Marshall Scholarships

A highly competitive scholarship, the Marshall provides for two years of study at a university in Great Britain. Candidates must have superior academic ability, a record of service and leadership, and be well-informed on global issues.

The Marshall Scholarship is funded by the British government as an expression of gratitude for the European Recovery Program instituted by General Marshall in 1947 to help Britain recover from World War II.  The scholarship consists of two years of study in the United Kingdom.  A Marshall scholar will possess a keen intellect and a distinction of character as evidenced by scholastic achievement and other activities, and display the potential to make a significant contribution to society.  Candidates must be graduating seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.7.  Applicants must present a definite academic program they wish to pursue in the United Kingdom, including a list of universities at which these programs are located.  Thus, research into appropriate and available programs in U.K. universities is necessary, and it should be noted that choices outside of the Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge) Universities are often advantageous in the competition.
