Alumni & Guest Services

All current College of Idaho students, faculty and staff have library privileges. Borrowing privileges are also extended to College of Idaho/Albertson College alumni, Friends of the Library and the family of College of Idaho employees. Provisions have been established to offer borrowing privileges to area teachers and a reciprocal borrowing agreement allows access for current Northwest Nazarene University and Boise State University students and faculty (a current university ID is required). Please see the details below.

Computer Privileges

Only individuals who are eligible for library privileges (see above) are permitted to use the computers in the library. No computer and/or Internet access is available to the general public. To use the library computers, stop at the desk and show your Terteling Library borrowing card (you will need to obtain one, see Your Library Card, below,  if you have not done so). You will be asked to sign a computer-use log and a library staff member will log a computer on to the network for you.

Your Library Card

To obtain your library card (if you are eligible for library privileges), first stop by the library. You will be asked to complete a short form. After this, eligible users will be issued a temporary borrowing card.  This card will expire after 30 days, and during that time you are asked to visit the college Campus Safety office (in Hendren Hall) to obtain a plastic photo-ID library card.

Current NNU students, faculty and staff may borrow Terteling Library materials with their NNU ID Cards.

Alumni

The following library privileges are available to College of Idaho / Albertson College alumni at no cost:

  • Alumni may borrow up to 25 items at one time. Alumni are eligible to use the library's computers. Online databases are available for use in-library only.
  • Interlibrary loan service is not available to alumni.

Area Teachers

The Terteling Library extends the following privileges to full-time area teachers at no cost:

  • Teachers may borrow up to 25 items at one time.
  • Teachers are eligible to use the library's computers. Online databases are available for use in-library only.
  • Interlibrary loan service is not available to local teachers.

Teachers may be particularly interested in the collections of the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC), located on the lower level of the library.

BSU & NNU Students

Through a reciprocal agreement with Boise State University (BSU) and Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), students (and faculty) of these institutions have the following library privileges:

  • BSU and NNU students may borrow up to 25 items at one time.
  • BSU and NNU students are eligible to use the library's computers. Online databases are available for use in-library only.
  • Interlibrary loan service is not available to BSU and NNU students.

Current NNU students, faculty and staff may borrow Terteling Library materials with their NNU ID Cards.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library organization helps to enhance the development of the library's collection and provides a means for members of the community to borrow from the library's collection and utilize the library's other services.

A membership in Friends of the Library requires a minimum tax-deductible donation of $30 per year. See the Friends of the Library web page for more information about the Friends of the Library and an enrollment form.

Current Friends of the Library members have the following library privileges:

  • Friends members may borrow an unlimited number of items from the library's collection.
  • Friends members are eligible to use the library's computers. Online databases are available for use in-library only.
  • Friends members are eligible for interlibrary loan service. They may obtain up to 5 returnable items (books) through interlibrary loan at one time, and an unlimited number of non-returnable items (articles).
