Historical Primary Source Collections

  • The American West - Historical primary source collection.  Original manuscripts, maps, ephemeral material and rare printed sources from the American West.
  • China: Culture and Society - Historical primary source collection. Aproximately 1,200 items, published between c. 1750 and 1929, mostly in English.
  • China: Trade, Politics and Culture, 1793-1980 - Historical primary source collection. English-language sources relating to China and the West, 1793-1980.
  • Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) - An extensive collection of primary source documents from the 18th century.
  • Empire Online - Historical primary source collection.  Material in the collection spans five centuries and includes memoirs, letters, missionary papers, slave papers, maps, marketing posters, etc.  Draws heavily from the British Library.
  • Global Plants - Plant specimen collections from more than 300 herbaria. Also includes access to reference works and historical primary sources related to these specimens and their collection.
  • Nineteenth Century Collections Online (NCCO) - An extensive collection of primary source documents and images from the 19th century.
  • 19th Century U.S. Newspapers - Full-text fascimile access to a 19th-century newspapers
  • Sabin Americana - An archive of books, pamplets, and other documents that provide original accounts of exploration, trade, colonialism, and more in North, South, and Central America and the West Indies. Documents published from 1500 to the early 1900's.
  • Slavery & Anti-Slavery: A Transnational Archive - Primary source collections on the transatlantic slave trade, the global movement for the abolition of slavery and other topics. Focus on the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, and other regions.
  • Times Digital Archive - Full-text fascimile access to the Times of London, 1785-2011

  • Academic Video Online - Many subjects: Business, Health Sciences, History, Performing and Visual Arts, and others.  39 video collections containing 40,000 full videos (not just clips!). Over 20,000 hours of content.
  • Naxos Music Library - Digital classical music collection featuring over 100,000 discs and over 1,450,000 tracks.
  • Swank Digital Campus - A curated collection of 100 feature films and documentaries (requires installation of Google Widevine Media Optimizer - works best with Chrome and IE).
