       Dr. Lisa Derry 

Lisa Derry, Professor of Music

Music theory, composition, and music technology.

Dr. Derry came to The College of Idaho in 1993 and since then has established a 
MIDI studio for music computer activities in the Langroise Center. The lab was
expanded in the Fall of 2000 to a six-station Fine Arts Resource Center and 
features state-of-the-art equipment and software for music, theatre and visual 
arts instruction, drill and creative activities. Currently the lab is home to the 
latest and greatest in software applications for the arts: Finale 2003, Cakewalk,
SmartScan, SoundForge 54.5, CoolEdit Pro, Corel Draw 9.0, PhotoShop,
and many aural skills training software.

Prior to her appointment at The College of Idaho in 1993, Dr. Derry 
taught at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo MI and the College 
of Saint Teresa and St. Mary's College in Winona MN.

Dr. Derry has performed as pianist with several chamber and professional 
ensembles including the Cimarosa Trio, the CLF Trio and ACT III, a jazz/rock 
group in Cincinnati.

Her research areas include form and gesture in pre-Classical literature, pitch 
perception, the blues and music of the Beatles, Frank Zappa and Eric Clapton.
