Concertmaster, Boise Philharmonic
Geoffrey has been concertmaster of various orchestras for more than
thirty years. He began in 1974 as Associate Concertmaster of the
Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, Portugal, and is currently Concertmaster
of the Boise Philharmonic. He has been Concertmaster of the Mannheim
Chamber and Hannover State orchestras in Germany and, for fifteen years
prior to coming to the United States, was Leader (Concertmaster) of the
BBC Scottish Symphony in Glasgow, Scotland.
Whilst in Scotland Geoffrey recorded extensively for the BBC and
collaborated with such renowned conductors as Lord Menuhin, Sir
Alexander Gibson, Sir Charles Groves, Sir Simon Rattle, Andre Previn,
Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Igor Markevitch, Thomas Sanderling,
Christopher Seaman, Mark Elder and many others. He was a frequent Guest
Concertmaster with the London Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic.
Born in London, Geoffrey won a scholarship at age fifteen to the
Guildhall School of Music, and subsequently studied with the great
Russian pedagogue, Sascha Lasserson. Mr. Trabichoff began his career
freelancing with the London Philharmonic and became a member of the
London Mozart Players and the English Chamber Orchestra. He has toured
Europe, North America and Israel and is featured on countless CDs as
concertmaster and chamber musician.
In addition to his position with the Boise Philharmonic, Geoffrey is
Artist-in-Residence at The College of Idaho and the violinist with
the Langroise Trio. He and his wife, Judy, live in Caldwell, and their
daughter, Nina, is planning to enter the music profession as a violist.
