Langroise Recital Hall Use Policy
1) The Langroise Center Recital Hall has a primary mission to serve the performing arts at The College of Idaho.
Requests for Use
1) Requests for use of the recital hall should be scheduled with the events coordinator Tracylea Balmer at 459-5802.
2) All uses of the space, including performances, rehearsals, classes, lectures, etc., must be reserved with the events coordinator.
3) The events coordinator may contact either the department head of music or theater, or the director of communication, in regards to appropriateness of use.
Availability
1) Availability will be determined by scheduling on a first-come, first-served basis. Exceptions and rescheduling should be considered in the best interest of the college and cooperation is encouraged.
2) Although the venues are primarily for use by The College of Idaho functions, they may be reserved for outside organizations. The rate for outside organizations will be determined by the events coordinator. The charge includes time for set-up and breakdown (also see “hosting” below).
3) An outside organization may have fees waved for the use of the recital hall provided an The College of Idaho academic department or office chooses to sponsor the organization. However, there must be a College of Idaho host (see “hosting” below) present at the accompanying event.
4) All outside organizations must submit the proper paperwork to the events coordinator including audio-visual needs, room layout configuration, duration of event, time needed before and after each event, etc. at least two weeks prior to an event.
5) Music student requests for use of the recital hall must be authorized by a faculty member and are limited to dress rehearsals for performances and recording sessions. The recital hall is not a practice facility.
Student Hosting
1) All performances of the music department or events sponsored by the music department will require a student host
2) All student-sponsored events will require a student host
3) For campus events, the sponsoring department must either provide a trained faculty/staff host or use a student host
4) Student hosts who have been trained may host events. The hosts will be trained by Lisa Derry or Seth Sengel for lighting, sound production, recording, use of multimedia presentation equipment, moving of acoustic shells and curtain functions. 5) The normal and usual fee for student hosts is $25 and will be paid to the Events Coordinator Tracylea Balmer.
6) The facilities/audio visual technician, Seth Sengel, may be requested to be on hand for events that require a more complex set up. This must be determined as early as possible -- at least two weeks in advance.
7) Outside presenters who require the expertise of the facilities/audio visual technician, above and beyond his/her normal duties and hours, may be required to pay a predetermined amount per hour, to be paid to the college, for his/her service.
Equipment
1) Only trained hosts may use the audio-visual equipment.
2) Events must be within the capacity of the existing audio-visual system. There will be no altering of equipment to accommodate a production.
3) A special request must be made to the Music Department Chair for the use of the Steinway pianos. The pianos should always be covered when moving and when not in use. Two people are required to move a piano.
4) The acoustic shells shall not be moved without training or supervision.
5) Conservation of the stage lights, in particularly the platform lights will be expected of all users. The lights are expensive and difficult to replace. Lights are to be turned off when leaving.
6) At the conclusion of the performance, return the performance hall, stage, backstage and audience seating area to normal and returned borrowed equipment.
General Rules
- ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, DRINK OR SMOKING is allowed in the recital hall or back stage area.
- The back stage area is not a storage area except for chairs, stands and the podium.
- Requests for exceptions to this policy may be directed to the Music Department chairperson.
- Violations of this policy will be dealt with by the Director of Administration and may result in the forfeiture of future use.
