Welcome! The College of Idaho is an institution devoted to student learning and student success. The Office of Academic Affairs helps focus that devotion and provides oversight for carrying out our mission to “help students lead productive and fulfilling lives.”
Our Honor Code system undergirds this learning community. The code outlines a philosophy of conduct upholding honesty, integrity, and understanding. The code is more than a pledge to be honest and responsible; it represents a commitment from all of us at the C of I to treat each other with respect, openness, and mutual trust. That attitude, in fact, is at the center of our dedication to the liberal arts—an approach that encourages students to recognize the importance and powers of thinking logically, imaginatively, and independently; writing and speaking forcefully and effectively; framing questions and finding difficult answers creatively; thinking broadly across the lines of traditional academic disciplines; assessing values; and approaching others with understanding and compassion
The Office of Academic Affairs coordinates the academic programs offered by the sixteen departments at the College and works closely with the Registrar’s Office to arrange and monitor all course offerings. Students will find our faculty extraordinarily committed to helping them navigate the academic demands of this college. But should they encounter difficulties, they will find welcome resources in the Academic Support Center; the Center for Experiential Learning also offers support to all students as they think about how this distinctive education prepares them for transformative experiences and careers.
Learning, of course, takes place not just in C of I classrooms but in hallways, residence halls, athletic fields, music and theatre events, and—in especially important ways—through informal interactions between students and faculty. I hope you will take full advantage of these opportunities to learn and will get to know the extraordinary educators who make this a very special community.
