Mike Safford Jr. begins his sixth year as sports information director for the Albertson College of Idaho athletic department.  Along with his media relations duties, Safford doubles as the associate athletic director, and serves as the “Voice of the Coyotes” for men's and women's basketball on 1490-KCID, along with calling Albertson baseball and softball games on radio and the internet.

Safford came to ACI after four years as sports information director at The Evergreen State College.  Safford has also broadcasted Evergreen basketball, Pacific Lutheran University basketball, baseball, and softball, University of Puget Sound football, along with high school sports for seven years in the Puget Sound.  He also served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Boise Hawks, the Northwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, for three seasons. 

An active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, Safford helped the Albertson sports information office win a pair of “Best in the Nation” awards in the NAIA-SIDA Publications Contest in 2002 and has placed 16 times within the contests' top-ten.  He was also named the Cascade Conference SID-of-the-Year in 2003.
