ALBERTSON COLLEGE SOFTBALL SIGNS FIRST SIX PLAYERS FOR 2007 SEASON
CALDWELL, Idaho –
Albertson College of Idaho head softball coach Al Mendiola has announced the
signing of the first six recruits for the 2007 season – with five players
hailing from the Treasure Valley.
A trio of pitchers lead
the group – all earning post-season honors.
Playing for the Lady ‘Yotes next season will be Brooke Judy of Kuna
High, Donnae
Carrell of Middleton High, and Chelsey Nokleby of River Ridge High in Lacey,
Wash.
Judy helped the Kavemen to
a runner-up finish in the 4A state tournament, earning second-team All-Southern
Idaho Conference honors. Carrell, a
three-time Snake River Valley Conference all-star, led the Vikings to the 2004
and 2005 3A state championships, with her 2006 squad placing third. Nokleby earned All-Pacific 9 honors this
past season and pitches for the Pacific Thunder club team.
Also heading to ACI is Ashley Galeai of
Skyview High, Brittney
Judy of Kuna High, and Chelsie Wiles of Payette High.
Galeai, a third-baseman,
and Judy, a catcher and twin-sister of fellow signee Brooke Judy, were both
All-Southern Idaho Conference selections.
Wiles, a utility player, earned similar honors in the Snake River Valley
Conference.
A pair of players –
Carrell and Galeai, intend to also play for the nationally-ranked volleyball
program at ACI.
Mendiola expects the
number of recruits to grow significantly in the coming weeks, despite returning
17 players from a 2006 squad that tied the school record for wins in a season.
