Mike Safford Jr. will handle play-by-play of the Albertson College softball games on the Albertson athletic website. Safford is in his first-year as the “Voice of the Coyotes.” He is also in his first-year as the associate athletic director and sports information director at Albertson College. Safford came to Albertson College after four years as sports information director at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. Along with handling the media relations chores, he broadcasted college softball games at Pacific Lutheran University for the past six years, including games at the 1997 NAIA College World Series, and at the past three NCAA Division III West Regional Tournaments. Safford, from Puyallup, Wash., received his bachelor of arts in print and broadcast journalism from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, in 1998. During his junior and senior years at PLU, Safford handled play-by-play duties for basketball, baseball, and softball games on KCNS-TV, along with serving as the main media contact for women’s basketball and softball.
