Volleyball Tournament Game 2

No. 5 Concordia def. No. 4 Northwest 30-22, 19-30, 30-20, 27-30, 15-9

CALDWELL, Idaho - Erin Murphy had six of her match-high 28 kills in Game 5, as Concordia University upset Northwest University 30-22, 19-30, 30-20, 27-30, 15-9 in a quarterfinal contest at the Cascade Conference Volleyball Tournament in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The No. 5 seeded Cavaliers (13-13) held a two games to one lead and a 18-12 edge in Game 4, but watched as the fourth-seeded Eagles used a 13-3 push to take control of the game and send it to a decisive fifth set.  After Northwest (13-10) scored the first point, a pair of Murphy kills gave Concordia the lead for good.  The Cavs had 13 kills with just one attack error in the finale.

Murphy added 24 digs and four blocks in the win, as CU will meet Albertson College in the semifinals later tonight.  Libero Kim Lindow had 28 digs, with Paige Peterson adding 19 digs, eight kills, and three blocks.  Setter Andrea Brandt added 55 assists and 12 digs.

Northwest was paced by 20 kills and 16 digs from Madeleine Krahn, 17 kills and 13 digs from Kara VanZanten, and 33 digs from libero Dayna Cassedy.
