Volleyball Tournament Game 3

No. 2 Southern Oregon def. No. 3 Oregon Tech 30-20, 30-20, 30-23

CALDWELL, Idaho - Southern Oregon advanced to the championship game of the Cascade Conference Volleyball Tournament with a 30-20, 30-20, 30-23 victory over Oregon Tech tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The Raiders (18-6) jumped out to a 11-1 edge in the opening game and coasted to the win, as Mia Wortel had five of her team-high 13 kills.  Southern used a 9-0 push, including three aces by Shanna Claflin, to erase a 5-4 OIT lead and win Game 2.  Tech closed within 23-21 in Game 3 on a Megan Albertson kill, but the SOU used a 5-1 to take the victory.

Richelle Milsap had ten kills and Katie Pluchos added eight kills and 12 digs in the win, as Southern will meet the winner of Albertson College and Concordia University in the title match.  Emily Stone had 19 digs to lead the Raiders.

OIT (20-9) was led by Krista Wooley with 14 kills and ten digs, but the Owls hit just .078 as a team and had 10 serve reception errors.  Krystie Vea had 19 digs to lead Tech, who will meet the ACI-Concordia loser in the third-place match at 4 p.m.
