WINNING IN OVERTIME: ‘Yotes to host “Winning
in Overtime” with Mark Adams
ABOUT WINNING IN OVERTIME: “Winning
in Overtime,” presented by Albertson College and the Coyote Athletic
Association, is a self-help motivational seminar. Targeted to the customer-conscious business person and featuring
nationally recognized speaker Mark Adams, this seminar will help individuals
and companies increase productivity through – making better use of your time
and energies, interacting more efficiently with your co-workers and the public,
refocusing and reenergizing your career, and personalizing your selling process
and gaining an unfair advantage.
Through three incredibly entertaining and productive hours, the
strategies stressed in “Winning in Overtime” can bring you lifelong benefits.

ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS: Coyotes over the 20 mark
with top scholars
TENNIS PLAYERS EARN HONORS: Albertson
senior women’s tennis players Andrea Ebert and Whitney Gibbon were
honored on Friday as NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes, announced at the 2004
national championships.
COUNT UP TO 22: So far during the 2003-04
season, 22 Coyote student-athletes have earned NAIA or USCSA scholar-athlete
honors. A breakdown by sport shows the
diversity of scholastic honors – men’s soccer (4), women’s soccer (5),
volleyball (3), men’s basketball (2), men’s skiing (5), women’s skiing (1), and
women’s tennis (2). There are
potentially three more scholar-athletes – as three baseball players have been
nominated for the award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the NAIA
World Series in early June.
SPORTS INFORMATION: Another summer with the
Boise Hawks for the Safford’s
FAMILY AFFAIR AT MEMORIAL STADIUM: For the
second consecutive year, Albertson sports information director Mike Safford
Jr. will be the play-by-play voice of the Boise Hawks on 1350 KTIK-AM, The
Ticket. He will call all 76-games
home-and-away for the Chicago Cubs Northwest League affiliate, and be joined by
Nat Reynolds in the booth for home games.
His wife, Liza Safford, the data specialist for the Albertson College
office of admission, will also serve as official scorer and press box manager
for the Hawks. She has volunteered as the
Coyotes official scorer for baseball for the last three years.
ALBERTSON COLLEGE NIGHT AT THE HAWKS: Look for
more information on the Second-Annual Albertson College night at the Boise
Hawks. Last year, 30 members of the
faculty and staff enjoyed a night in the Hawks Nest.

REMEMBER THE MAGIC WITH THE 2003-04 HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: Remember
the magical run through the Cascade Conference Tournament for the 2003-04 men’s
basketball team by purchasing the official highlight video for the
Coyotes. The 20-minute video set to
music and play-by-play from radio broadcasts has highlights right through the
NAIA Tournament. Videos and DVD’s are
available for $12, with proceeds supporting the Coyote men’s basketball

RECRUIT UPDATE: So far, the Coyote men’s
basketball team has signed two players, with a third signing taking place on
Thursday. Josh Owen, son of head
coach Mark Owen, will be playing ball for the ‘Yotes. As a senior at Vallivue High, he led the
Falcons to a fourth-place finish at the state 4A Tournament. Owen was named Southern Idaho Conference
Player-of-the-Year and to the All-State team, averaging 19 points and six
assists a game. Also coming to
Albertson is junior college transfer, Daniel McFaul. The 6-6 forward averaged 13.8 points and 8.9
rebounds a game at Big Bend Community College during the 2003-04 season. The native of Moses Lake, Wash. was selected
to play in the NWAACC All-Star game.
Rounding out the current recruits (with more to come) is Justin Fried,
who will sign his Letter of Intent on Thursday. Fried, the son of former Coyote All-American Rick Fried, was a
two-time 3A All-State player at Middleton High, averaging 20 points a
game. The 6-4 guard has returned from
an LDS mission in the Ukraine.
VOLLEYBALL: Uriarte named assistant coach
‘YOTES NAME ASSISTANT COACH: Longtime
local prep coach Ramey Uriarte was named last week the top assistant for
the Albertson volleyball team. Uriarte,
who assisted with the Coyotes during the 1995 season, has coached extensively
with youth volleyball in the Treasure Valley – including stints at Capital,
Centennial (winning the 2001 5A title), and Mountain View High School’s. As a coach with the Boise River Volleyball
Club, his U-16 team will participate in the Junior Olympics in Texas this
summer. The Burns, Ore. native is
married to wife Pam and has two children – Tucker (3) and Melia (2).
