ATHLETIC NEWS:

JOSH OWEN NAMED NAIA ALL-AMERICAN: College of Idaho guard Josh Owen was named to the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America Team as an honorable mention selection, announced prior to the national championship game in Point Lookout, Mo.  The senior from Caldwell averaged over 17 points a game this season and ranked among the Cascade Conference Top-10 in four different categories.  Owen finishes his career as the only C of I player in school history to record 1,500 points, 300 assists, and 150 steals - while he is one of three players in the nearly 100-year history of Coyote basketball to score 30-or-more points in three-straight games.  Four other CCC players were named All-Americans - including Ryan Fiegi of national champion Oregon Tech, who was named NAIA Division II Player of the Year.  Scott O'Gallagher of Warner Pacific was named to the First-Team, Mark Carollo of Eastern Oregon was named to the Second Team, with Nate Menefee of Evergreen State named to the Third-Team.  OIT head coach, Danny Miles, was named NAIA Division II Coach of the Year.

THREE LADY YOTES EARN SCHOLAR-ATHLETE HONORS: Three College of Idaho women's basketball players were named to the Daktronics/NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, announced this afternoon prior to the NAIA Division II title game in Sioux City, Iowa.  Seniors Denise Hill and Magen Dufurrena along with junior Christon Vander Esch were among 220 student-athletes who were at least a junior status in eligibility and maintained a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.  Currently, Coyote student-athletes have now earned 27 scholar-athlete awards, just two away from the school-record, set last season of 29.

GOLFERS OPEN UP 2008 SEASON: The College of Idaho men's and women's golf team will open up the 2008 portion of their schedule on Monday, traveling to Corvallis, Ore., for the Cascade Conference Qualifier #3 at Diamond Lakes Golf Club.  The Coyotes competed in a pair of fall qualifiers, with both the men and women sitting in fourth-place in the CCC standings with two tournaments remaining.  The C of I men have added a pair of players to their roster  - Monte Rinebold of Mountain Home and James Taylor of Emmett, while the Lady Yotes will receive the services of Catherine Everist, who missed the fall portion of the season while playing for The C of I volleyball team.

VOLLEYBALL SIGNS THIRD PLAYER FOR 2008: College of Idaho volleyball coach Liz Mendiola announced today the signing of Alicin German to an NAIA Letter of Intent for the 2008 season.  The junior transfer played two seasons at Treasure Valley Community College, where she earned All-NWAACC Eastern Division honors last season.    German started every match - recording 242 kills on the season (3.78 per game), while recording 74 combined blocks, earning MVP honors.  She was also an NWAACC Academic Team honoree.  The 5-10 blocker/hitter joins Megan Spinks and Bryanne Gribble as signees for the 2008 season.

BASEBALL: Yotes hit road for three-game set at Corban, return home for Monday-Tuesday series with Simpson

LAST WEEK: vs. Concordia (L 4-1, L 8-4, W 8-2), vs. Central Washington (L 16-7, W 9-5)

COMING UP: at Corban, Friday, 1 p.m. (PT); at Corban (DH), Saturday, 11 a.m. (PT); vs. Simpson, Monday, 1 p.m.; vs. Simpson, Tuesday, 1 p.m.

LIVE STATS / INTERNET BROADCASTS: All home College of Idaho baseball games will have Live Stats available, thanks to the NAIA’s contract with DakStats.  To access the live stats, head to http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Team/TeamPage.aspx?association=10&sg=MBA&sea=NAIMBA_2008&team=1612, and click on the corresponding webcast “W” next to the game being played.

O’BRIEN NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: For his efforts in the Lewis-Clark State and Concordia series’, shortstop Alex O’Brien (Everett, Wash. / Everett CC) was named Cascade Conference and NAIA Region I Player of the Week.  The junior transfer hit .550 in the six games, going 11-for-20 at the plate, with two doubles and four RBI.  It marks the first C of I player to earn weekly honors in baseball this season.

LYON COMES THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH: The Coyotes turned to a senior to try and stop a five-game losing streak on Sunday and it worked.  Pat Lyon (Bonners Ferry, Idaho / Bonners Ferry HS), who had worked out of the bullpen in 38 of his 41 appearances in his Coyote career, made the spot start, and was stellar.  The right-hander went a career-high seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits, walking one, and striking out three – dropping his ERA to 2.08.

MILLER SWINGING HOT BAT: During the 12-game homestand, Coyote outfielder Jake Miller (Idaho Falls, Idaho / Treasure Valley CC) has seen his bat catch fire.  The junior transfer will take a team-best nine-game hitting streak into the weekend series in Oregon – going 8-for-16 with three doubles and five RBI during the five games played last week.

CARLSEN HEATING UP: Also breaking out of a slump is second baseman Brad Carlsen (Reno, Nev. / Western Nevada CC), who was 6-for-16 with seven runs scored over the weekend.  Not only did the junior hit his team-best third home run against Central Washington, but more importantly, recorded a team-high .545 on base percentage during the five games.

BOTTARI WORKS OUT OF NIGHTMARE: The key to the Yotes Tuesday win against Central Washington came in the form of reliever, Jake Bottari (Wells, Nev. / Western Nevada CC), who worked out of an extreme presser cooker.  Working with the bases loaded and no outs in a tight game, the junior struck out the 4-5-6 batters in the Central order, preserving the Yotes lead – which turned into a 9-5 win.

OFF TO CORBAN: After playing 12 games in a row at home, the Yotes hit the road for the first time in March, traveling to Salem, Ore., for a three-game series with Corban.  The Warriors (5-11, 2-3 Region I) head into the weekend on a four-game losing streak – having just been swept by Lewis-Clark State.  Corban is led offensively by shortstop Daniel Flores (.400 15 RBI), infielder Nate Hiebert (.371 5 RBI), All-CCC outfielder Jaime McGraw (.341 1 HR 3 RBI), and All-Region second baseman Craig Spicer (.342 6 RBI).  On the mound, returners Jason Braun (1-3 4.91 ERA) and Jordan Emery (1-3 5.34 ERA) have the ability to defeat any team in the region.  The Yotes swept the six games last season and hold a 68-9 all-time series edge.

BACK TO BACK GAMES WITH SIMPSON: The Coyotes will play the final set of three-straight mid-week series on Monday and Tuesday, as NAIA independent, Simpson, makes their first trip to Caldwell.  The Redhawks (7-16), from Redding, Calif., will be in the middle of a week-long Spring Break trip that takes them to Northwest Nazarene, The C of I, and Oregon Tech.  Kenny Button (.400 1 HR 7 RBI) and Patrick Roman (.266 3 HR 14 RBI) are the Redhawks top hitters, while Jacob Sanchez (3-1 4.18 ERA) and Shane Hillier (1-6 4.73 ERA) have logged the most innings on the mound.  It marks the first meeting between the teams.

REGIONAL/NATIONAL POLL: The second regular-season NAIA Region I poll was released on Monday, with Lewis-Clark State maintaining the top spot, followed by British Columbia, and the Yotes.  Concordia, Corban, and Oregon Tech round out the rankings.  L-C remained the No. 1 team in the NAIA Top-25 poll, followed by Lee (Tenn.), Lubbock Christian (Texas), Azusa Pacific (Calif.), and Oklahoma City.  British Columbia was the only other Region I team in the poll, receiving seven voter points.

REGIONAL TEAM STATS: Batting Average – Lewis-Clark State .346, College of Idaho .283, British Columbia .281, Concordia .271, Corban .253, Oregon Tech .231; Earned Run Average – Lewis-Clark State 3.01, British Columbia 3.52, Oregon Tech 4.82, College of Idaho 5.45, Concordia 6.31, Corban 6.61; Fielding Percentage – Lewis-Clark State .968, British Columbia .959, Concordia .958, Corban .957, College of Idaho .948, Oregon Tech .930.

CONCORDIA SERIES: Day 1 - Concordia ended a six-game losing streak in impressive fashion, sweeping Saturday’s doubleheader from The C of I, 4-1 and 8-4.  Game 1 was a true pitchers dual between Joey Zubizarreta (Boise, Idaho / Cochise CC) of the Coyotes and Concordia's tandem of Ben Rue and Zac Manor.  Rue allowed an unearned run on three hits in five-plus innings of work to get the win, with Manor recording the final four outs to get his first save.  Zubizarreta was the unlucky loser for The C of I, allowing four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.  The Cavaliers got to Zubizarreta in the fourth - loading the bases with one out.  It looked like the Yotes would get out of the inning, but a Casey McLeod would-be double-play ball struck the base umpire, ruling the ball dead, allowing McLeod to reach on the single, giving CU a 1-0 lead.  Brad Himes would then roll into another apparent double play, but Brad Carlsen could not get the ball out of his glove after the force at second, allowing Ben Ingram to score.  Brennan Ingram then laced an RBI single through the right side to make it 3-0.  Ryan Sussenguth made it 4-0 in the fifth, lacing a two-out RBI double, but the Yotes would come back. getting a Ray Morrison (Cumming, Ga. / Chattahoochee Valley CC) RBI single in the bottom of the frame to draw within three.  The hosts would bring the tying run to the plate with one out in the final frame, but Manor got pinch hitter Gavin Gamboa (Boise, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS) to pop up and Carlsen to ground out to end the game.  Game 2 saw the Cavs jump out to a 4-1 lead, but the Yotes would even the score in the sixth, as five-straight C of I batters singled - but left the go-ahead runner stranded at third as Jason Grisham came in from the pen to work out of the jam.  CU would score three times in the eighth to put the game away,  Grisham went the final four innings, allowing just one hit to get his first win of the season.  Ben Lanier had three hits in the win, while Alex O'Brien had three hits in the loss for the Yotes.  Day 2 - O'Brien went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run double in a six-run fifth inning, as the Yotes ended a five-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over Concordia at Simplot Stadium.  Leading 2-1 heading into the frame, The C of I batted around - taking advantage of their home park and the sun field to notch a six-pack of runs.  Luke Howarth (Boise, Idaho / Centennial HS) led off with a double in the right field corner, then following an out, Carlsen hit a fly ball into center that was lost in the sun by Roberto Reyes, as the sun-aided double scored Howarth from third.  Jake Miller would then launch a fly ball to left that was lost in the sun by Lanier, going for another double, and the Yotes had a three-run lead.  Richie Snider (Sandpoint, Idaho / Porterville CC) added an RBI single to chase Cavalier starter Brett Hawley, with reliever Kyle Corwin greeted by a Cody Brubaker (Post Falls, Idaho / Spokane Falls CC) single, O'Brien's two-run double, and a pinch hit RBI single from Bryan Champ (Boise, Idaho / Borah HS) to cap the Coyote outburst.  Pat Lyon was stellar in his first start of the season, as the senior logged a career-high seven innings, scattering six hits and striking out three.

SPLIT WITH CENTRAL: Ray Morrison hit a long three-run home run, part of a five RBI Game 2, as the Yotes split a doubleheader with Central Washington, losing the opener, 16-7, but winning the nightcap, 9-5, Tuesday at Simplot Stadium.  Jake Miller got the Coyotes going in Game 2, lacing an RBI single in the opening frame, scoring Brad Carlsen from second.  After Cody Brubaker was hit by a pitch, Morrison crushed a high fastball over the left field wall into the Caldwell Night Rodeo grounds, making it 4-0.  Leading 5-1 in the fifth, C of I starter Justin Marsh-Quinlan (Seabeck, Wash. / Olympic CC) walked the first two men, as the Yotes summoned Jake Bottari from the pen.  After hitting the first man he faced, Bottari struck out the next three batters with the based loaded to get out of the jam.  The Yotes would get insurance runs in both the fifth, on a two-run Morrison single, and in the sixth, on a two-run Miller double.  The opener was all Wildcats, scoring 16-straight runs after spotting The C of I a 1-0 lead in the first.  Hank Anderson hit a two-run homer in a four-run second inning, then slammed a three-run shot in a four-run seventh inning to put the game away.

ABOUT THE COACH: The 2008 season marks the 21st year in The College of Idaho baseball program for head coach Shawn Humberger, his eighth year as Coyote skipper.  Last season, he led the squad to a 31-17 mark, their third-straight Cascade Conference championship, and a runner-up finish at the NAIA Region I Tournament.  During his tenure, Humberger has compiled a 246-169-1 record, including a third-place finish at the 2002 NAIA College World Series.  He has been named CCC Baseball Coach of the Year in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2007, along with earning NAIA Region I Coach-of-the-Year and CCC Men's Coach-of-the-Year for all sports in 2002.

SOFTBALL: No. 18 ranked Lady Yotes set to open ten-game homestand Friday against Concordia

LAST WEEK: at Eastern Oregon (W 10-1, L 4-1)

COMING UP: vs. Concordia (DH), Friday, 3 p.m.; vs. Corban (DH), Saturday, 11 a.m.

LIVE STATS: All College of Idaho softball home games will feature Live Stats on the Internet, via the NAIA’s contract with DakStats.  To access the game, head to http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Team/TeamSchedule.aspx?association=10&sg=WBA&sea=NAIWBA_2008&team=1400, and click on the corresponding “W” next to the game being played.

LADY YOTES RANKED 18TH IN FIRST POLL: The NAIA released its first Top-25 Coaches Poll of the regular-season, with the Lady Yotes ranked No. 18 in the nation.  The C of I dropped four spots from their No. 14 perch in the preseason tabulation – but find themselves amongst the nation’s elite for the seventh-straight polling period.  Cal Baptist claims the No. 1 spot, followed by Point Loma Nazarene, Lubbock Christian, Trevecca Nazarene, and Savannah A&D.  Two other Northwest teams are in the poll, Simon Fraser at No. 12, with Oregon Tech receiving two voter points.  The national poll will be released every Wednesday for the remainder of the season.

REGIONAL RANKINGS: The first NAIA Region I Top-5 ranking was released on Monday, with Simon Fraser maintaining the top spot.  The Lady Yotes were in the No. 2 spot, followed by Oregon Tech, Concordia, and Eastern Oregon.  Interestingly, Great Falls, who began the season 9-4 (before two losses on Wednesday), was not in the Top-5.

RECORD-BREAKING GAME FOR VILLYARD: Playing in La Grande, Ore., has been something Coyote first-baseman Dani Villyard (Kent, Wash. / Kentlake HS) would like to do all the time, as her numbers in the Grande Ronde Valley have been impressive.  On Saturday, the sophomore set a new school record with six RBI in the Yotes 10-1 Game 1 victory – breaking the old mark of five, recorded three different times.  She also tied a pair of school records – becoming the third player to hit two home runs in one game, and joining Stacy Smith (Draper, Utah / Juan Diego HS) as the only players to hit three home runs in a doubleheader.  Villyard now has four career homers – with the one she hit last season also smacked in La Grande.

ZILLNER APPROACHING 400 K’S: With seven strikeouts in the complete game victory over Eastern, Katie Zillner (Emmett, Idaho / Chicago State U.) is quickly approaching the 400-strikeout mark in her career.  The senior has now fanned 397 batters in her two-plus seasons in the Purple and Gold – while recording 18 games with ten or more strikeouts.

YOTES SWEEP CCC/REGION I HONORS: The Lady Yotes swept the second Cascade Conference/NAIA Region I weekly awards of 2008, as Dani Villyard was named Player of the Week and Katie Zillner was named Pitcher of the Week.  Villyard was 3-for-7 in the Yotes three games from Mar. 9-15, with three homers and seven RBI, while Zillner went 2-0 during the same timeframe, striking out 18 batters in wins over Holy Names and Eastern.

HOME STREAK ON THE LINE: After playing 11 of their first 13 games on the road, the Coyotes return home this weekend, set to open a ten-game homestand – spanning two-plus weekends.  On the line is the Lady Yotes Symms Field win streak, which stands at a school-record 11 games – dating back to April of last season.  Over the last two years, The C of I has posted a 20-4 record at home.

ABOUT CONCORDIA: A familiar foe heads to Caldwell this Friday, as Concordia makes a return trip to the Treasure Valley.  The Cavaliers (5-6) won a pair of games at the C of I Classic two weeks ago, then traveled to Simon Fraser last Sunday, dropping two games to the nationally ranked Clan.  Former Coyote Nicole Illias (.474 2 HR 13 RBI) has been the offense for CU, as the Cavs have struggled at the plate, hitting just .233 as a team – last in the CCC.  Concordia has one of the top pitchers in the loop in Danielle Pulfrey (4-4 2.17 ERA), who leads the league with 75 strikeouts.  The Lady Yotes swept all five games between the teams last season and hold an 18-11 all-time series lead.

ABOUT CORBAN: The Lady Yotes will be looking for some revenge on Saturday, as Corban meets The C of I on the Symms Field diamond.  The Warriors (3-6) have been itching to hit the field, as the Salem school has not played in over three weeks – having lost four of their last five games in February.  Jennifer Kollaer (.727 2 HR 15 RBI) got off to a blistering start to the season, while All-CCC performer Lindsey Batey (.375 2 RBI) is a difficult out.  Erin Sailors (2-3 4.38 ERA) is Corban’s top pitcher, with one of her two wins this season coming against the Yotes in a 2-1 Warriors’ victory in both teams’ season opener in February.  The C of I won 4-of-5 meetings last season and hold an 11-9 all-time series edge.

TEAM CONFERENCE NUMBERS: Batting Average – Oregon Tech .311, College of Idaho .291, Corban .279, Northwest Christian .254, Eastern Oregon .246, Concordia .233, Southern Oregon .230; Earned Run Average – College of Idaho 1.60, Oregon Tech 2.25, Concordia 3.27, Corban 3.75, Eastern Oregon 3.89, Northwest Christian 3.99, Southern Oregon 6.77; Fielding Percentage  -Concordia .959, Oregon Tech .956, Southern Oregon .944, College of Idaho .942, Corban .936, Eastern Oregon .931, Northwest Christian .918.

INDIVIDUAL CONFERENCE NUMBERS: Batting Average – Jennifer Kollaer (CRB) .727, Nicole Illias (CU) .474, Haley Butcher (CI) .417, Christina Archambault (SOU) .414, Megan Platz (EOU) .412; Home Runs – Jenni Bittle (OIT) 5, Platz 4, Dani Villyard (CI) 3; Runs Batted In – Kollaer 15, Bittle 14, Katie King (OIT) 14, Illias 13; Earned Run Average –Kelly West (EOU) 1.11, Katie Zillner (CI) 1.32, Bittle 1.81, Danielle Pulfrey (CU) 2.17.

RECAP OF EASTERN OREGON DOUBLEHEADER: Dani Villyard set a school record with six RBI in the opener and smashed three home runs in the twinbill, as The C of I split a doubleheader at Eastern Oregon, winning the opener, 10-1, but dropping the nightcap, 4-1, at Peggy Anderson Field in La Grande on Saturday.  Villyard hit a two-run homer in the second, followed by the second grand slam in C of I history in the third.  The Yotes got RBI singles from Katie Zillner and Haley Butcher (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle HS) in the sixth to help end the game due to the mercy rule.  Zillner got the win in the circle, allowing just two hits and striking out seven to pick up her fourth win of the season.  Villyard, Butcher, and Kelsi Murdock (Kuna, Idaho / Kuna HS) each had two hits in the win.  Game 2 saw the Mountaineers break a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo Iris  Woodhead home run.  They would add two insurance runs in the sixth to pick up their first win over the No. 14 ranked Coyotes since 2006.  Villyard hit her third homer of the day in the fifth inning to tie the score.  However, the Lady Yotes stranded four runners in scoring position and mustered just four hits off EOU starter, Kelly West.

ABOUT THE COACH: Al Mendiola is in his third year as head coach of The College of Idaho softball program and has a 64-41 all-time record – already the all-time winningest coach in C of I history.  The native of San Diego, Calif. has helped the Lady Yotes become a force in Northwest softball, leading The C of I to back-to-back playoff appearances, including the 2007 Cascade Conference championship.  Following the season, Mendiola was honored as CCC and NAIA Region I Coach of the Year after the Coyotes set a school record with 37 wins, climbing to as high as No. 14 in the NAIA poll, an advanced to the regional title game.  Outside of softball, Mendiola has also been the head coach of the Caldwell Silver Streaks American Legion baseball team since 1997 and has also assisted with the Boise Clippers men's fastpitch team.  He was also an assistant coach for The C of I baseball team for seven years.  A 1994 graduate of The C of I, Mendiola played two seasons of baseball for head coach Tim Mooney, earning honorable mention NAIA All-America honors as a senior.

TRACK: Yotes win six events at NNU, head to Oregon for Charles Bowles Invite

COMING UP: at Charles Bowles Invitational, Salem, Ore., Friday night.

LAST WEEK: at Northwest Nazarene Invitational and Multi-Events

HOPPER WINS TWICE AT NNU: Fresh off an All-America finish at the NAIA Indoor Championships, C of I standout Tyler Hopper (Caldwell, Idaho / Caldwell HS) got his outdoor track season off on the right foot, recording a pair of wins in the opening meet last weekend at Northwest Nazarene.  The senior dominated the 1,500-meter race, winning by nine seconds, followed by a win in the 800-meters – however, with the cold, windy conditions, the marks were not national qualifying times.

FINCH WINS LONG JUMP: The Coyote men had another winner, as Sam Finch (Redding, Calif. / Foothill HS) took home the crown in the long jump.  Competing in a field event for the first time on the men’s side since the program returned in 2005, the Yotes picked up a gold, as the freshman outdistanced the field with a leap of 21 feet, 11.5 inches.  His mark was less than six inches off the school record, set by Wes Remaly, during the 1974 season.

YOTES SWEEP 800: The women’s team dominated the 800-meter race, claiming the top-four spots in the field.  Stephanie Sparks (West Jordan, Utah / Juan Diego HS), who set the school record in the 800 indoors this winter, won the race – followed closely by Jayne Saunders (Emmett, Idaho / Emmett HS), Katie Ball (Boise, Idaho / Boise HS), and Molli Lee-Painter (Moscow, Idaho / Moscow HS).

RELAY WINS: Also in the win column was the women’s 4x400 relay – sprinting past a pair of Boise State teams and a squad from Treasure Valley Community College for a 19-second victory.  Stephanie Sparks, Jayne Saunders, Katie Ball, and Maggie Miller (Anchorage, Alaska / Lane CC) ran the race in 4:10.60 – just under three seconds off the school record.

CHLEBECK SETS SCHOOL RECORD: Speaking of school records, Jesse Chlebeck (Eagan, Minn. / Eagan HS) set a new record for the Yotes in the 3,000-meters, placing second in the race in 8:47.99 – taking nearly 16 seconds off the record.  The 3,000 is not run at the NAIA Championships, but is a great training tool for athletes building to run the 5,000 and 10,000-meter distances.

MULTI-EVENT SUCCESS: The Coyotes also competed on Thursday and Friday at NNU’s Multi-Event meet – with Emily McCutchan (Eagle, Idaho / Cole Valley Christian HS) winning the women’s heptathlon with a two-day total of 3,359, the second-highest total in the Cascade Conference this season.  She had her best marks in the long jump and the 200-meters.  On the men’s side, Andy Swanson (Boise, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS) placed second in the decathlon with 4,386 points – recording the top mark in the high jump.  Both competitors will compete in the CCC multi-event finals in May.

TOP CCC MARKS: Two Coyote athletes have the top mark in their event – as Stephanie Sparks has the fastest time this spring in the 800-meters, with indoor All-American Stephanie Helm (Challis, Idaho / Challis HS) recording the fastest time in the 1,500-meters.

OFF TO SALEM: The Coyotes will compete against the best Division II, Division III, and NAIA teams this Friday at the Charles Bowles Invitational, hosted by Willamette University.  Running on a quality track, The C of I is optimistic that they will have their first NAIA qualifying times of the season on Friday night.

WOMEN’S TENNIS: Lady Yotes end losing streak with two wins in Oregon

COMING UP: Idle

LAST WEEK: at George Fox (W 6-1), at Pacific (W 8-1)

YOTES FINALLY IN THE WIN COLUMN: It took nearly a month, but The College of Idaho women's tennis team finally notched their first match win of the season, winning a convincing 6-1 decision at George Fox, followed by an 8-1 win over Pacific.  Playing indoors at the Tualatin Hills Racquet Club in Hillsboro, Ore., the Yotes won five of the six doubles matches and nine of the ten singles matches over the weekend.

PERFECT WEEKEND: A trio of C of I singles players won both of their matches in the Willamette Valley, helping the Lady Yotes to the wins.  After starting the season 0-6, Kyla Westerberg (Caldwell, Idaho / Boise State U.) dominated her foes, losing just three games combined in her two wins at No. 1.  Also sweeping aside their competition was Kim Clements (Boise, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS) at No. 3, and Kate Leadbetter (Grand Junction, Colo. / West River Acad.) at No. 4.  In doubles, Westerberg and Clements won both of their matches at No. 1, with Amanda McEldowney (Caldwell, Idaho / Linfield Coll.) and Leadbetter sweeping their matches at No. 2.

LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS: Kate Leadbetter continues to lead the squad in singles wins with four, with Amanda McEldowney right behind her with three, while McEldowney leads the team in games won with 66.

MATCH WITH TREASURE VALLEY POSTPONED: The Lady Yotes match on Tuesday against Treasure Valley CC was postponed due to weather - making the outdoor courts at the River City Racquet Club in Nampa unplayable.  The match will be rescheduled, but a date has not be determined.
