CROSS
COUNTRY TEAMS RANKED IN CCC/NAIA PRESEASON POLL: For the first-time ever, The C of I
women's cross country team was ranked in the NAIA Top-25 Preseason Coaches
Poll, as the Lady Yotes achieved the No. 11 spot in the polling released by the

MEN’S
SOCCER PICKED TO WIN CCC NORTH: The C of I was the unanimous selection to win the South
Division as the 2008 Cascade Conference Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll was
released earlier this week. The Coyotes, coming off a third-place finish
last season and an 11-6-1 overall record, claimed the all nine first-place
votes in their division - as the CCC splits into a North-South arrangement for
the first time this season. Joining The C of I in the South Division are
second-place Corban, followed by Cascade, Northwest Christian, and Oregon

SIGNINGS: C of I
track and field coach Pat McCurry announced this week the signing of Andre
Archer to an NAIA Letter of Intent for the 2009 season. Archer, of

"Andre is a very balanced jumper and long sprinter full of

for us as we build into the sprints and jumps." Also, C of I men's
and women's tennis coach Cisco Limbago has announced the signing of a
pair of student-athletes to NAIA Letter of Intents for the upcoming 2008-09

QUICK
2008 SYNOPSIS:
Coming off of back-to-back Cascade Conference championships, The College of
Idaho volleyball team heads into the new season looking to replace five
starters from last season with ten new players – including two junior
college transfers. A quality preseason schedule will challenge the team
before the 20-game CCC schedule – with an automatic berth to the NAIA
Championships on the line for the league tournament champion.
SCORING
CHANGES: During the
2001 season, collegiate volleyball adapted the rally scoring system – playing
each game to 30 points, instead of the traditional side-out scoring
method. In 2008, the system has been tweaked again, adopting the
international rally scoring system, with sets (as they are now known, instead
of games) played to 25 – with Game 5 still played to 15.

Lady Yotes were selected by the CCC coaches as the preseason favorite for the

season 2-6, but rallying to go 19-1 in CCC play – sharing their second-straight

Yotes swept through pool play, but lost a tough 3-2 decision to regional champ,

their first Cascade Conference championship in 24 years, becoming just the

2008 SYNOPSIS: Coming
off their first-ever back-to-back playoff appearances, their first-ever home

for The College of Idaho women’s soccer team heading into the new season.
After posting a 5-3-2 Cascade Conference record, good enough for fourth place,
and a 9-7-3 overall mark – ranking second all-time in single-season wins, the
program has come full circle from a 1-16 mark in 2004. Returning 12
players, including seven starters from last season, along with possibly the
best recruiting class in program history, the Yotes have the firepower to
challenge the elite in the CCC.
