Fabricius Leads Yotes Past NNU

Zach Fabricius threw eight innings of four-hit ball as The College of Idaho defeated Canyon County rival Northwest Nazarene, 5-1, this afternoon at Elmore Vail Field.

The win for the Coyotes (13-4) was their 161st against the NCAA Division II Crusaders' since the 1930s - but the first meeting between the teams since the 2007 season.

Izaac Garsez used RBI singles in the first and third innings to give the Coyotes a 2-0 lead - as Fabricius was on cruise control.  The lefty retired 14 men in a row until a bunt single in the seventh.

Garza Named CCC Pitcher of the Week

College of Idaho right-hander Michael Garza was honored today as Red Lion-Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The junior, from Othello, Wash., picked up a pair of victories for the Coyotes, helping a team to a 4-2 week.

Garza gutted through six innings of relief in a snowstorm last Monday in a 6-4 victory over Willamette, then made his first start of the season Sunday against Dickinson State, going six innings in a 10-3 victory.  He allowed just two earned runs and eight hits, striking out eight men.

Yotes Win Series Finale Over DSU

Cameron Packham and Jeffrey Harris each had three hits, leading The College of Idaho to a 10-3 victory over Dickinson State in the final game of a four-game weekend series at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (12-4) took a 3-0 lead in the first, as Tanner Hodges roped an RBI double, Todd Griffiths added an RBI single, with a third run scored on a failed pickoff move.  The Yotes would make it 4-0 in the second on a Nick Muncy RBI single, pushing the margin to 7-1 in the third on RBI singles from Packham and Andrew Sewell.

Coyotes Drop 5-3 Decision to DSU

A two-out, two-run single from Brock Murphy in the eighth inning provided the winning run, as Dickinson State rallied for a 5-3 victory over The College of Idaho at chilly Wolfe Field.

The Blue Hawks (3-5) got a two-out single from Zach Griffith and Erik Bastio walked.   A passed ball moved the runners to second and third, with Murphy lining the base hit up the middle, erasing a 3-2 C of I lead.  Jon Mendoza followed with an RBI double to deep left center field to make it 5-3.

Yotes Split DH with Dickinson St.

Chad Yeggy tossed eight strong innings and Tanner Hodges had four hits in the opener, but C.J. Ketron held The College of Idaho to just three hits in the nightcap, as the Yotes and Dickinson State split a doubleheader at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (11-3) won the opener, 10-1, extending their win streak to nine games, but DSU grabbed a 4-1 win in Game 2.

Yeggy was outstanding for the Yotes, allowing just four hits in his longest outing of the season - retiring 15 of 16 batters at one stretch.  The senior walked just one, hit a man, and struck out four.

Yotes Sweep Snowy Doubleheader

Jarel Lewis had eight RBI on the afternoon to pace The College of Idaho, as the Coyotes beat both a late winter snowstorm and Willamette University, stopping the Bearcats 18-1 and 7-4, at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (10-2) completed their second-straight weekend sweep of a Northwest Conference team - running their win streak to eight games in a row.  The squad battled the elements today, as snow began to fall in the eighth inning of Game 1 and fell heavy at times during the first four innings of Game 2.

Sunday Sweep of Willamette

Jarel Lewis' RBI single in the eighth inning plated the winning run in Game 1, with Joshua Orr striking out eight men in a complete game effort in Game 2, as The College of Idaho swept a doubleheader from Willamette University, 6-5 and 5-1, at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (8-2) extended their win streak to six games with the victories - their first games against the Division III school since 1999.

Willamette Series Pushed Back

The College of Idaho and Willamette University have announced that their weekend baseball series will be pushed back 24 hours, due to expected inclement weather in the Treasure Valley.

The four-game series between the Yotes and Bearcats was supposed to start Saturday afternoon, but with rain and snow in the forecast, the two head coaches decided to begin the series on Sunday.
