The College of Idaho has hired four new staff members for the 2011-2012 school year:
Michael Capell, graphic design instructor/graphic designer Michael Capell has been hired as a graphic design instructor in the Department of Art and a graphic designer for the Office of Marketing and Communications at The College of Idaho. Capell comes to C of I from Utah State University, where he taught classes after earning a Master of Fine Arts with emphasis in animation and interactive design in 2007. He also taught classes for the Alliance for the Varied Arts and has done freelance design work for a variety of clients, including the Utah Jazz, Portland Trailblazers, SGI, and iFrogz.
Bruce Smith, director of admission Bruce Smith has been hired as director of admission at The College of Idaho. Smith comes to C of I from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in writing and a master’s degree in administration from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He has more than 17 years of experience in higher education administration, including more than a decade in enrollment management.
Michael Burdine, admission counselor Michael Burdine has been hired as an admission counselor at The College of Idaho. A Treasure Valley native, Burdine graduated from Notus High. He went on to attend and play baseball at Treasure Valley Community College and Midland University (Nebraska), where he earned a degree in physical education with a minor in coaching in the fall of 2010.
Lourdes Matsumoto, admission counselor Lourdes Matsumoto has been hired as an admission counselor at The College of Idaho. Matsumoto is familiar with the College and the Treasure Valley – she graduated from Middleton High in 2004 and earned a bachelor’s degree from C of I in 2007, double majoring in history and political economy. Her last job was as an executive assistant to Caldwell Mayor Garrett Nancolas.
