Field courses take students to Australia, Europe and the Sawtooths

The entire world is a classroom for College of Idaho students, and in January 2013, they’ll participate in month-long, faculty-led study courses in Australia, London and Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains.

During the off-campus courses, students of all majors will explore first-hand Australia’s coastal ecosystems, England’s art, history and culture, and environmental policy and literature while skiing through Idaho’s mountains.

C of I publishes fall 2012 issue of ‘Quest’ magazine

The fall 2012 issue of The College of Idaho’s official magazine, Quest, is in mailboxes this week. The issue has a theme of “Entrepreneurship,” celebrating many of the C of I alumni who have gone on to interesting and successful careers in a wide variety of businesses.

C of I receives $1 million gift for Boone Hall

A gift from a Treasure Valley physician will enrich The College of Idaho’s science programs by supporting renovations that will modernize teaching facilities in Boone Science Hall.

Dr. James W. Smith, a 1964 graduate of the C of I, and his wife Mary Barbara are giving $1 million to the second phase of the Boone Science Hall renovation project. Phase II of the project will improve teaching laboratories and infrastructure in the building, supporting the College’s long-standing legacy of outstanding teaching, learning and research in the sciences.

Gift to fund C of I chair in writing, rhetoric

The College of Idaho will create a new chair that further enhances its long-standing strength in developing students’ clarity of thought and writing thanks to a bequest from an anonymous donor.

The Berringer Chair in Writing and Rhetoric will honor legendary C of I English professor Ralph Berringer, who taught at the C of I in the 1950s and 1960s and helped invigorate the intellectual life of the College following World War II.

C of I President Marv Henberg noted that Berringer’s dedication to his students remains an inspiration today.

C of I set for chamber music recital

The College of Idaho music department is pleased to present an evening of strings as the student chamber music recital takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, inside Langroise Recital Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The concert is free and open to the entire campus community and the public.
