Way to go, Allan!...Dr. Rick Williams '74 recently was honored by a fly-fishing and conservation NGO, the Federation of Fly Fishers based in Livingston, Mont.
As construction crews put the finishing touches on the $4 million renovation of Voorhees Hall, students in Finney Hall packed up their rooms to prepare for the move—but not before giving The College of Idaho’s oldest dormitory a proper sendoff.
With hands raised high and holding plastic champagne glasses filled with sparkling apple cider, students celebrated the Finney Farewell with a toast.
“Let’s raise our glasses to the Finney Hall of the last century and the Finney Hall of the next century,” said Jen Nelson, director of residence life.
Rising up like a concrete and steel coliseum along Cleveland Boulevard, The College of Idaho’s new Cruzen-Murray Library is starting to resemble the sleek, 60,000-square-foot building that will be completed in late 2017.
And almost a year to the day after breaking ground on the three-story building, the College will hold a “topping off” ceremony from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, as the Kreizenbeck Constructors crew lifts the final steel beam into place. The event is open to the public.
Alumni News & Notes:Jodi Reynolds has joined the board of directors for Opera Idaho. Over the years, Reynolds has been involved in the Boise Art Museum, Boise Baroque Orchestra, Boise Philharmonic, Boise Committee on Foreign Relations, Idaho Historical Museum and the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation, among other organizations.
Alumni News & Notes:Jordan Huttash ’12 was profiled in the Idaho Press-Tribune, as the paper chronicled her time spent as a medical scribe before pursuing medical school…John “Keith” Carlton ’76, a beloved Boise High School teacher, has passed away.
Alumni News & Notes:Verlena Orr ‘61 has released her third full-length collection of poems, The Lyric Unveiled, from Dancing Moon Press. Orr is gifting this book as a thank you to all who have supported her poetry over the past 30 years.
The College of Idaho has published its fall 2016 issue of Quest magazine, which is hot off the press! Themed “Tradition,” the fall issue highlights the many traditions that have shaped C of I student life for 125 years, from Founding President William Judson Boone’s annual panoramic photographs to contemporary classics like the Finney Fun Run.
Alumni News & Notes:Kirk Houston ‘06 joined Holland & Hart’s Boise office. Houston handles bankruptcy and commercial litigation. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from The College of Idaho, Houston went on to earn his law degree from the University of Idaho...T.J. Gordon ’16 signed to play football with the Dodge City Law of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League.
