Holly honored as Athletic Director of the Year

Longtime College of Idaho athletic director Marty Holly has been named the Cascade Conference Athletic Director of the Year, announced June 14 by CCC commissioner Rob Cashell. Holly, who recently completed his 32nd year at the C of I, earns the honor for the second time in the last five seasons. He also will be a nominee for the NAIA Athletic Director of the Year award, to be announced later this summer.

Garson named men's basketball coach

College of Idaho athletic director Marty Holly has announced the hiring of UCLA assistant Scott Garson as the 15th men’s basketball head coach in program history.

“I am honored that President Henberg and Marty Holly have given me the opportunity to lead the men’s basketball program at The College of Idaho,” Garson said.  “I feel very fortunate to be at an institution with such an outstanding academic reputation combined with a tremendous passion for its athletics programs across the board.”

Former NFL quarterback named head football coach

The College of Idaho has named Mike Moroski, a former NFL quarterback and longtime coach at the University of California-Davis, as the 17th head football coach in its program history.

The College of Idaho has hired successful fundraiser Jack Cafferty and long-time educator Sally Skinner as director of development and director of alumni and parent relations, respectively.

C of I writer John Rember releases new book of stories

College of Idaho writer-at-large and former writing and literature professor John Rember has published a new book of stories entitled "Sudden Death, Over Time," which hit shelves last week. Rember describes the book as a collection of "dark, seductive and broodingly ironic" short stories that emerge from the uncertainty, failing infrastructures and moral ambiguity of our modern time.

President Henberg delivers State of the College Address

College of Idaho President Dr. Marv Henberg applauded his faculty and staff for a successful 2010-2011 school year and challenged them to continue generating bold ideas that will ensure continued academic and fiscal success in the years to come during his annual State of the College Address on Aug. 25 inside Langroise Recital Hall.

C of I dining hall gets $1.5 million upgrade

Students eating at The College of Idaho will return to a more pleasing dining experience this fall, following completion of a $1.5 million project upgrading Simplot Dining Hall.

Matt Caldwell, general manager of C of I’s food service provider Bon Appétit, said the renovations significantly enhance the kitchen and serving areas of Simplot Dining Hall. Images of the renovated Simplot Dining Hall can be viewed on the College Flickr site.

C of I hires alumna as admission counselor

The College of Idaho has hired Rachel Blood as a counselor in the Office of Admission. Blood comes to the College from the Boise School District, where she worked with the Title I program at Grace Jordan Elementary School.  She graduated from C of I in 2009, majoring in English and earning a minor in psychology.

Blood, who grew up in Boise and attended Capital High School, is excited to be back at her alma mater.
