Halfpipe Closes USCSA Nationals

A pair of third-place finishes by The College of Idaho women's teams in the halfpipe closed out the 2012 USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

Top-5 Finishes in SlopeStyle

Led by a trio of All-America performances, all three College of Idaho teams placed in the Top-5 in today's SlopeStyle competition at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

The women's snowboard team had the best finish, placing third overall - as McKinley Carbone placed fourth and Sarah Silva placed fifth in the event, both earning All-America honors.  Sierra Nevada won the team title, followed by Westminster College, and the Lady Yotes.

Lady Yotes Take Bronze in SB-X

The College of Idaho snowboard team placed third overall in today's Snowboard Cross competition at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

Both C of I competitors advanced out of the morning qualifying heats to compete in the 16-person elimination bracket - with Sarah Silva bowing out in the quarterfinals, while McKinley Carbone earned All-America honors by winning the consolation final.

Westminster College won the team title, followed by Sierra Nevada College, and the Lady Yotes.

Lady Yotes 6th in Snowboard GS

Behind a pair of Top-20 finishes by Sarah Silva and McKinley Carbone, The College of Idaho opened the 2012 USCSA National Championships with a sixth-place team finish in the women’s snowboard giant slalom this morning at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

Silva, who earned a pair of All-America honors last season, placed 14th overall with a two-run time of 2:41.11, while Carbone, in her first national championship, placed 16th with a time of 2:43.56.

FREESTYLE AND BOARDERS TO CARRY COYOTE BANNER: Although the Coyote men’s and women’s alpine ski teams were eliminated from national competition, The C of I will still be represented at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.  A women’s freestyle skier, two women’s snowboarders, and three men’s freestyle skiers have qualified for the event.

Nationals Not In Coyotes' Cards

For the first time since the 1995 season, neither College of Idaho alpine ski team will advance to the USCSA National Championships - as the 2012 USCSA Western Regionals came to a close in Steamboat, Colo.

Men 8th in Giant Slalom

Zach Shenk finished ninth today to lead The College of Idaho men's alpine ski team to an eighth-place finish in the giant slalom at the USCSA Western Regionals in Steamboat, Colo.

Shenk had the sixth-fastest time in the morning run, with his time of 1:33.24 just over three seconds behind the individual champ, Olle Friberg, of Rocky Mountain.  Zach Tomilnson placed 29th for the Yotes (1:36.87) and Greg Wanta took 41st (1:41.92).

Lady Yotes 6th After Giant Slalom

The College of Idaho women’s alpine ski team will have an uphill climb in their attempt to qualify for the USCSA National Championships, as the Lady Yotes placed sixth in today’s giant slalom event in Steamboat, Colo.

The Lady Yotes, who have advanced to the national championships each year since 1999, will have to finish in the Top-3 to earn a spot at this season’s event at Sunday River Resort in Maine.
