Coyote Ski Team Honored by Idaho Legislature

The five-time 2011 USCSA National Champion College of Idaho ski team was honored today by the Idaho State Senate, as Senate Proclamation No. 102, written by the State Affairs Committee, was passed.

The Proclamation commended the Coyotes and Lady Yotes on their record-setting trip to Sun Valley, where the men’s freestyle team claimed three team national titles, with the women’s freestyle team adding two team national titles and an individual crown.  In all, The C of I earned 21 All-America honors at the event.

Yotes Cap Record Setting Run at USCSA Nationals

The College of Idaho ski program recorded its most prolific national championships in the nearly 50 year history of the program - as the Coyotes won five team titles at the 2011 USCSA National Championships in Sun Valley.

The C of I men's freestyle team won a trio of titles - the Slopestyle event on Friday, the Halfpipe on Saturday, and the Freestyle Combined, while the Lady Yotes claimed the Freestyle Halfpipe event on Saturday and the Freestyle Combined.

Both teams also had a Top-3 finish in the Skier-X on Thursday, the Lady Yotes placing second, the Coyote men, third.

Men's Freestyle Wins SlopeStyle National Championship

Thanks to three Top-7 finishes, The College of Idaho men’s freestyle ski team captured the USCSA National Championship in the Slopestyle at Dollar Mountain in Sun Valley.

It marks the 24th team national championship by a C of I team – and the third by a freestyle Coyote team since 2005.  The Yotes recorded 14 place points to claim the title, three points ahead of second-place USC, and 17 points clear of the University of Nevada.

Fitzpatrick Wins Skier-X National Championship

Kelley Fitzpatrick eluded a wild crash early in today’s Women’s Skier-X final, as The College of Idaho junior claimed the first women’s individual title by a Lady Yote in 16 years, winning the 2011 USCSA National Championship at Dollar Mountain in Sun Valley.

The native of Keizer, Ore., who grew up skiing at Sun Valley, won her quarterfinal heat, edging out Rocky Mountain’s Isa Floden at the line, then dominating her semifinal run – winning by two seconds.
