Nationals Not In Coyotes' Cards

For the first time since the 1995 season, neither College of Idaho alpine ski team will advance to the USCSA National Championships - as the 2012 USCSA Western Regionals came to a close in Steamboat, Colo.
The Coyote men improved on their giant slalom performance, placing seventh in today's slalom runs, with the Lady Yotes finishing eighth in today's competition. The University of Colorado claimed the women's crown - as a guest institution, with Rocky Mountain College winning the men's title. RMC, British Columbia, and the University of Idaho claimed the three men's team berths to nationals, while Rocky, UBC, and the University of Washington earned the women's berths. Idaho's Lindsey Anderson and Whitman's Nathan Ord were the individual qualifiers.
Zach Tomlinson led the Coyote men today with an 11th-place finish (1:36.92), six seconds behind RMC's Ollie Friberg. Nina Hirner led the Lady Yotes with an eighth-place finish (1:33.27), five seconds back of Colorado's Cayla Weber. Both C of I teams finished seventh in the alpine combined.
