Lady Yotes Ranked #20

The College of Idaho softball team climbed two spots to No. 20 in the latest NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll, released this afternoon by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

The Lady Yotes (22-6) received 216 voter points in the poll - one of three Cascade Conference teams in the Top-25, as Oregon Tech is at No. 6 and Corban is at No. 23.  Both Concordia (Ore.) and Southern Oregon received votes.

Lubbock Christian (Texas) holds the No. 1 spot, followed by Cal State-San Marcos, Concordia (Calif.), Oklahoma City, and Central Baptist (Ark.).

Skinner Earns National Honor

College of Idaho sophomore Nickayla Skinner was honored today as this week’s NAIA National Pitcher of the Week, announced by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

The Mountain Home native had a monster week in the circle for the Lady Yotes, helping the team push their record to 22-6, their best start in program history.

It marks the second time that a Lady Yote has earned the prestigious award from the NAIA, as All-America pitcher, Katie Zillner, earned the honor during the 2008 season.

Schedule Changes

The College of Idaho and Northwest Nazarene University softball programs have announced a schedule change to their annual doubleheader.

Due to scheduling conflicts due to weather in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, NNU is unable to meet the Lady Yotes next Tuesday, April 3.  Crusader head coach Julie Coert and C of I head coach Al Mendiola have pushed the game back to April 17 - with the game still at Symms Field in Caldwell, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Lady Yotes return to action on Friday at Oregon Tech.

Skinner Earns CCC Award

A dominant weekend in the circle landed College of Idaho's Nickayla Skinner her fourth-straight Red Lion-Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week award, announced this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

Lady Yotes Sweep Eastern

Nickayla Skinner tossed a one-hit shutout in Game 1, while the Lady Yotes rallied from a 2-0 deficit in Game 2, as The College of Idaho completed a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Oregon, winning 4-0 and 4-2, at Symms Field.

Late HR Sinks CI in Game 2

Nickayla Skinner tossed a two-hit shutout in Game 1, but a late Brooke Davis home run broke a scoreless tie, as The College of Idaho and Northwest Christian split a Cascade Conference doubleheader at Symms Field.

The Yotes (20-6, 3-3 CCC) won 8-0 in five innings in the opener, with the Beacons taking a 1-0 decision in the late game.

Lady Yotes Split with Concordia

Despite a banner day in the circle and at the plate by Nickayla Skinner, The College of Idaho squandered opportunities late in Game 2, as the Lady Yotes split a doubleheader with Concordia University at Symms Field.

The No. 22 ranked Lady Yotes (19-5, 2-2 CCC) won the opener, 4-0, but dropped the nightcap, 6-5.

Yote Notes - Edition 8

COMING UP: vs. Concordia (DH), Friday, 1 p.m.; vs. Northwest Christian (DH), Saturday, 11 a.m.; vs. Eastern Oregon (DH), 11 a.m.

LAST WEEK: vs. No. 16 Corban (W 1-0, L 14-5)

Weekend Softball Altered

The weekend softball schedule at Symms Field has been altered dramatically, due to weather issues across the Cascade Conference.

Eastern Oregon's home diamond at Anderson Field is unplayable, with the Mountaineers striking a deal with the Yotes to also host their league games this weekend in Caldwell.

Thus, Friday's doubleheader between the Lady Yotes and Concordia will begin at 1 p.m. (instead of the originially scheduled 2 p.m.), with Eastern's twinbill with Northwest Christian to follow at 5 p.m.

Lady Yotes Ranked #22

For the first time in over two seasons, The College of Idaho climbed into the Top-25 as the first NAIA Softball Coaches' Poll of the 2012 regular-season was released this afternoon by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

The Lady Yotes (18-4) were ranked No. 22 - the first ranking since the team opened the 2010 season ranked No. 15 in the Preseason Top-25 poll.  The C of I received 168 voter points in the tabulation - one of four Cascade Conference teams in this week's ranking.  Oregon Tech was ranked No. 5, Corban was ranked No. 16, with Concordia receiving votes.
