klopfenstein hits NAIA "A" Standard
Sora Klopfenstein hit the NAIA "A" standard with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meters, highlighting College of Idaho athletes on Day 1 of the Jackson's Invitational at the Jackson's Indoor Track in Nampa.
The sophomore, from Meridian, clocked a time of 10:27.83, meeting the automatic standard for the NAIA Indoor National Championships. Brittany Beame led a contingent of four sprinters in the 200-meters, recording a time of 27.91.
Austin Basterrechea set a school record on the men's side on Day 1 of the heptathlon, sitting in fifth-place with 2,598 points. The sophomore, from Gooding, recorded a 7.47 60-meter dash, besting Andy Swanson's record set in 2010. He recorded a 6-2 high jump, a 20-3 3/4 long jump, and hurled the shot, 36-4 3/4. Jason Hunt recorded a time of 15:35.69 in the 5,000-meters for the Yotes, with John Fronk logging a 20-2 1/4 leap in the long jump.
Day 2 of the meet begins tomorrow at 9 a.m.
