yotes sweep Red Lion-CCC weekly AWards

College of Idaho players swept the first Red Lion-Cascade Conference weekly baseball awards of the 2012 season, released this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

Jarel Lewis earned the Player of the Week honor for the Yotes, while Taylor Nicholson was named Pitcher of the Week.

Lewis, a junior from Boise, hit safely in all four games at the NAIA Desert Classic in Arizona, going 7-for-16, with a homer, three doubles, three RBI, and five runs scored, helping the Yotes to a 2-2 record, including a win over No. 17 Fresno Pacific.

Nicholson, a junior from Emmett, picked up a save in the Yotes 7-2 win over Wayland Baptist.  The Columbia Basin CC transfer struck out seven men in three and a third innings, allowing just two hits and no runs.

The Yotes return to action this weekend, opening a 12-game homestand with a weekend series against Whitman.
