Lady Yotes lose opener at George Fox, 8-1

The College of Idaho women's tennis team dropped their 2012 season opener this afternoon, falling to host George Fox University, 8-1, in Newberg, Ore.

The NCAA Division III Bruins (1-0) swept the doubles' points and grabbed 5-of-6 singles' wins.

The Lady Yotes (0-1) got quality play at No. 1 doubles from Hayley Hutchings and Shae Stults, who lost 8-4 to Molly Beaumont and Alyssa Emoto, while at No. 3, Chantelle Hadeed and Marissa Chau defeated the Yotes Tanya Greenwood and Nicole Cammann, 8-5.

Cassie Low picked up The C of I's only win on the day, defeating Hadeed 7-5, 0-6, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 5 singles, while Stults and Shaina Inn played an epic match at No. 3 - with Inn pulling out a 7-5, 7-6 victory.

The squad returns to action tomorrow, traveling for a 9 a.m. match at Pacific University.
