three Top-5 finishes in slopestyle

Led by a trio of All-America performances, all three College of Idaho teams placed in the Top-5 in today's SlopeStyle competition at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

The women's snowboard team had the best finish, placing third overall - as McKinley Carbone placed fourth and Sarah Silva placed fifth in the event, both earning All-America honors.  Sierra Nevada won the team title, followed by Westminster College, and the Lady Yotes.

The men's freestyle team placed a disappointing fifth-place in the event, as no Coyote finished in the Top-15 to qualify for a second run.  Stephen Frandin had the best performance by a C of I competitor, placing 17th.  The University of Colorado claimed the title, followed by USC, Sierra Nevada, UC-Santa Barbara, and the Yotes.

The women's freestyle team placed fifth as well, thanks to a great effort by Trisha Randazzo, who earned All-America honors by placing seventh.  Sierra Nevada took the team title, followed by Western State, Fresno State, Colorado, and the Yotes.

The championships close out tomorrow with the Halfpipe finals.
