yotes shoot school record 291 at NNU
The College of Idaho withstood a rainy afternoon to post their lowest team single round in program history in today's head-to-head dual match with Northwest Nazarene at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa.
The Coyotes had three players at even-par or better, carding a three-over par 291, one stroke better than their record score of 292, also against NNU, back in 2003. Unfortunately, the record round wasn't enough, as the Crusaders matched their lowest team score in program history to top the Yotes, 287-291.
Tyler Thurston carded his second 71 in the last seven days, taking second overall. Two C of I players - Kyle DeLorey and Austen Giesie each shot an even-par 72, while Ben Hersh and Reid Hammerquist each carded three-over 75s, their best rounds of their collegiate career. NNU's Brock Sargent took medalist honors with a two-under 70.
The Yotes open up the spring Cascade Conference schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the Concordia Invitational in the Portland metro area.
