hodges, dodd named academic all-district 

A pair of College of Idaho baseball players were named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 team, released this afternoon.

Shortstop Tanner Hodges and first-baseman Jesse Dodd were among the 12 players honored in the College Division – encompassing schools from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

Players were selected for their achievements on the diamond, along with being at least a sophomore academically and maintaining a 3.30 GPA or higher.  All members of the District 7 team had a 3.51 or higher GPA.

The recipients will be eligible for the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America team, to be released later this month.

District 7 Team: Pitchers – Ryan Nash (Oklahoma Christian), Casey Cassity (Rogers State), Chris Eastham (Southern Nazarene); Catcher – Chad Carman (Oklahoma City); Infielders – Jesse Dodd (College of Idaho), Brian Fisher (Oklahoma City), Tanner Hodges (College of Idaho), Luis Martinez (Mid-America Christian); Outfielders – Peter Maldonado (Texas-Brownsville), Caleb Price (Oklahoma Christian), Heath Steele (Oklahoma Christian); Designated Hitter – Jake Storrer (Arizona Christian).
