c of I finishes #17 in NAIA Directors cup
The College of Idaho finished the 2011-12 athletic season No. 17 in the final NAIA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, released this morning in Cleveland, Ohio.
It marked the highest finish ever by the Coyotes’ in the all-sports standings, including four Top-10 national finishes this season (baseball, volleyball, women’s cross country, women’s track & field).
The Coyotes finished with 498 points, with 11 sports earning points for their finishes in national competition.
Azusa Pacific leads the way with 918 points, with three other Cascade Conference teams in the Top-30 - Concordia in tenth (594), Southern Oregon in 27th (379), and Eastern Oregon in 28th (377).
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women’s and six men’s.
