Women's Basketball

lady yotes win ccc championship 

Kylie Hardison led four players in double-figures with 21 points, leading The College of Idaho to their second Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships title in three years, upsetting top-seeded Corban University, 80-68, inside the C.E. Jeffers Center.

Playing in their fifth-straight title game, the No. 20 ranked Lady Yotes (22-8) hit 59-percent of their second half field goal attempts to cut down the nets on the road for the first time in program history.

Athletic News

C of I to explore return of football 

The College of Idaho will consider the reinstatement of a football team to its athletics program this spring, with the College’s Board of Trustees anticipated to make a decision at its May 2012 meeting.

A series of meetings for members of the College community will be held in the coming weeks by President Marv Henberg and Athletics Director Marty Holly. Information about the contemplated reinstatement of football will be shared at the meetings and input will be collected.

ballenger honored by cascade conference 

College of Idaho guard Matt Ballenger was named today to the 2012 All-Cascade Conference Team as an honorable mention selection, as the squad was released by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The Nampa native earns All-CCC honors for a third-straight year - earning honorable mention honors in 2010 and 2012, while earning first-team honors last season.  Ballenger averaged 16 points and four rebounds per game, while leading the team with 56 steals.

Baseball

garza named ccc pitcher of the week 

College of Idaho right-hander Michael Garza was honored today as Red Lion-Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The junior, from Othello, Wash., picked up a pair of victories for the Coyotes, helping a team to a 4-2 week.

Softball

mills named ccc player of the week 

College of Idaho outfielder Molly Mills was honored today as Red Lion Cascade Conference Softball Player of the Week, released this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The junior, from Burley, went 7-for-10 at the plate in the Lady Yotes four-game sweep of Dickinson State, driving in four runs in the four games.  Mills reached back in 10-of-13 plate appearances, scoring seven runs.

It marks the first time Mills has received the award in her career.

Softball

Lady Yotes named "TEAM OF THE WEEK"

The College of Idaho softball team was honored today as the Verizon-Cascade Conference Team of the Week, announced tonight by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The Lady Yotes are coming off a four-game sweep of Dickinson State in which the squad outscored the Blue Hawks, which received votes in the preseason NAIA Top-25 Poll, 42-10.

With the wins, The C of I improved their record to 13-3 on the year - the best 16-game start in program history.

jones named CCC newcomer of the Year 

College of Idaho guard Felicity Jones was honored today as the 2012 Cascade Conference Newcomer of the Year, as the Red Lion-CCC Women's Basketball Team was announced by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The junior, from Tremonton, Utah, leads the Lady Yotes in scoring, averaging over 13 points per game - including double figure scoring outputs in 19 of her last 21 games.  She was the lone C of I player named to the All-CCC Team.

Softball

Lady yotes sweep aside Dickinson State 

Alexis Macias roped a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning of Game 1, then pitched a three-hit shutout in Game 2, as The College of Idaho completed a four-game sweep of Dickinson State, winning 7-4 and 11-0 today at Symms Field.

Baseball

coyotes salvage split with dickinson state 

Cameron Packham and Jeffrey Harris each had three hits, leading The College of Idaho to a 10-3 victory over Dickinson State in the final game of a four-game weekend series at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (12-4) took a 3-0 lead in the first, as Tanner Hodges roped an RBI double, Todd Griffiths added an RBI single, with a third run scored on a failed pickoff move.  The Yotes would make it 4-0 in the second on a Nick Muncy RBI single, pushing the margin to 7-1 in the third on RBI singles from Packham and Andrew Sewell.

Softball

lady yotes beat cold and DSU 

Alexis Macias tossed a complete-game three-hitter in the opener, while combining to drive in seven runs on the afternoon, as The College of Idaho swept a doubleheader from Dickinson State, 11-2 and 10-6, at Symms Field.

The Lady Yotes (11-3) battled a stiff breeze and a hailstorm to complete a sweep of a fellow NAIA team receiving votes in the national poll.
