nationals not in yotes cards 

For the first time since the 1995 season, neither College of Idaho alpine ski team will advance to the USCSA National Championships - as the 2012 USCSA Western Regionals came to a close in Steamboat, Colo.

Baseball

dsu rallies for 5-3 win over yotes 

A two-out, two-run single from Brock Murphy in the eighth inning provided the winning run, as Dickinson State rallied for a 5-3 victory over The College of Idaho at chilly Wolfe Field.

The Blue Hawks (3-5) got a two-out single from Zach Griffith and Erik Bastio walked.   A passed ball moved the runners to second and third, with Murphy lining the base hit up the middle, erasing a 3-2 C of I lead.  Jon Mendoza followed with an RBI double to deep left center field to make it 5-3.

Women's Basketball

LADY YOTES HEADED TO NATIONALS

Kylie Hardison hit a pair of three-pointers in a 16-2 second-half run, as The College of Idaho rolled to a 68-49 victory over No. 25 ranked Eastern Oregon, 68-49, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships semifinal contest inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Skiing

coyote men 8th after giant slalom 

Zach Shenk finished ninth today to lead The College of Idaho men's alpine ski team to an eighth-place finish in the giant slalom at the USCSA Western Regionals in Steamboat, Colo.

Shenk had the sixth-fastest time in the morning run, with his time of 1:33.24 just over three seconds behind the individual champ, Olle Friberg, of Rocky Mountain.  Zach Tomilnson placed 29th for the Yotes (1:36.87) and Greg Wanta took 41st (1:41.92).

Baseball

Chad Yeggy tossed eight strong innings and Tanner Hodges had four hits in the opener, but C.J. Ketron held The College of Idaho to just three hits in the nightcap, as the Yotes and Dickinson State split a doubleheader at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (11-3) won the opener, 10-1, extending their win streak to nine games, but DSU grabbed a 4-1 win in Game 2.

Skiing

lady yotes 6th after giant slalom

The College of Idaho women’s alpine ski team will have an uphill climb in their attempt to qualify for the USCSA National Championships, as the Lady Yotes placed sixth in today’s giant slalom event in Steamboat, Colo.

The Lady Yotes, who have advanced to the national championships each year since 1999, will have to finish in the Top-3 to earn a spot at this season’s event at Sunday River Resort in Maine.

SCHEDULE SHIFTED: The Dickinson State series has been shifted for a second time, thanks to a poor weather report for Saturday.  The scheduled Saturday doubleheader has been shifted to Friday at Noon, while single games will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday and at Noon on Sunday.

Men's Basketball

Yotes season ended at Oregon Tech 

Oregon Tech opened the game on a 26-6 run and rolled to a 79-53 victory over The College of Idaho in a Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Championships quarterfinal match-up in Klamath Falls, Ore.

The victory for the No. 3 ranked Owls (27-4) sends the team into the semifinal round, where they'll meet Eastern Oregon, while the Coyotes (10-20) closes in the league tournament's opening round for the sixth-straight season.
