Lady Yotes win NWCSC GS EVENT

Three College of Idaho skiers placed in the Top-13, as the Lady Yotes claimed today's Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference giant slalom qualifier at Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park.

The Lady Yotes finished four seconds ahead of Whitman College for the team win - moving to the top of the leaderboard in the NWCSC overall standings.

HILL, RELAY HIT NAIA MARKS VS. SOKA

Lucas Hill and the women's 400-freestyle relay hit NAIA qualifying marks as The College of Idaho swim team closed out the regular-season with a dual against Soka University inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center.

The Lions easily won the men's dual, 143-66, but had to win the final four events to claim the women's title, 100-82.

Corban ends lady yotes win streak at 5

Corban University claimed sole possession of first-place in the tight Cascade Conference women's basketball race, ending The College of Idaho's five-game win streak with a 76-62 victory inside the C.E. Jeffers Center.

Tara VanWeerdhuizen led the No. 13 ranked Warriors (18-5, 12-2 CCC) with 24 points and 10 rebounds - as Corban became the first CCC team to score more than 63 points and hit 50-percent of their field goals against The C of I.

HIRNER LEADS LADY YOTES AT MT. SPOKANE

Nina Hirner placed fourth overall to lead The College of Idaho women's alpine ski team to a second-place finish in the first of two weekend Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference qualifiers at Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park.

The Coyote men struggled, as only two of five racers completed both giant slalom runs cleanly, finishing in seventh-place.

HURD breaks 60-hurdle record in nampa 

Mike Hurd make his College of Idaho debut today at the Bronco Invite in Nampa this afternoon, setting a new indoor school record in the 60-meter hurdles.

The sophomore, from Payette, broke the record in the preliminary heat with a time of 8.55, following it up with a 8.51 run in the final - placing fifth.  He also competed in the long jump, finishing eighth.

In Pocatello, Derek Janssen competed in the Mountain State Games, placing third in the 800-meters with a time of 2;02.

SLOWDOWN SHOWDOWN GOES TO CORBAN

Jordan Carter scored a game-high 26 points, as Corban University outlasted The College of Idaho, 47-42, inside the C.E. Jeffers Center in Salem, Ore.

Playing at the slowdown pace of the Coyotes (9-17, 4-11 CCC), the Warriors held The C of I to their lowest scoring output in the 20-year history of the Cascade Conference.  It marked the second-straight season that Corban (15-11, 7-7) swept the season series from the Yotes.

LATE RALLY LIFTS L-C STATE OVER YOTES, 8-4

Connor Moore lined a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning, as No. 11 ranked Lewis-Clark State held off The College of Idaho, 8-4, in the final game of the NAIA Desert Classic in Anthem, Ariz.

WHITWORTH BLANKS COYOTES, 9-0

Whitworth University completed a clean sweep of The College of Idaho, defeating the Coyote men, 9-0, this afternoon in Lewiston.

The NCAA Division III Pirates (1-0) opened their season by dominating the doubles' competition, but the Coyotes put up a fight in singles' play.  Chenjerai Simpson played well in a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Daniel Redfern at No. 1 singles, while Zach Buker forced a second set tiebreaker before losing 6-1, 7-6 to Alvin Le.

The Yotes (0-2) close out the weekend tomorrow, meeting host Lewis-Clark State at 9:30 a.m. (PT)
