Women's Basketball

Rossi wins career game No. 200

A 14-0 run late in the second half helped Reagan Rossi earn her 200th win as head coach, as The College of Idaho won their fifth-straight game, a 68-53 decision over Northwest Christian inside the Morse Events Center.

Rossi becomes just the sixth head coach at The C of I to win at least 200 games in a career - joining baseball coaches Tim Mooney and Shawn Humberger, soccer coach John Calpin, men's basketball coach Marty Holly, and volleyball coach Liz Mendiola, in the elite club.

Baseball

SPLIT IN ARIZONA INCLUDES WIN OVER #17 FPU

The College of Idaho split a pair of games on Day 2 of the NAIA Desert Classic, losing a tough 9-8 decision to Point Loma Nazarene, but rebounding for a big 11-3 win over No. 17 Fresno Pacific, in Anthem, Ariz.

Tanner Hodges had four hits in the twinbill for the Yotes (2-1), with Jarel Lewis and Todd Griffiths each recording a trio of safties.

Men's Basketball

YOTES MAKE FINAL 14 SHOTS IN WIN AT NCU

The College of Idaho hit 82-percent of their second half field goals as the Coyotes moved into sole possession of eighth-place in the Cascade Conference with a 60-56 road victory over Northwest Christian, inside the Morse Events Center.

The Yotes (9-16, 4-10 CCC) moved a half-game clear of NCU in the playoff race - and currently hold the tie-break edge on the Beacons.

Swimming

NAIA MARKS, RECORDS BROKEN VS. SOKA U.

Five NAIA qualifying marks and two school records highlighted The College of Idaho's first home swim contest of the 2011-12 season, as the Coyotes and Soka University of American battled in a long course dual inside the J.A. Albertson Aquatics Center.

The Lions, from Aliso Viejo, Calif., won both team match-ups - earning a 138-99 victory in the men's competition, and winning 107-84 on the women's side. 

Tennis

COYOTES DROP SEASON OPENER TO SEATTLE U. 

The College of Idaho men's tennis team dropped their 2012 season opener to NCAA Division I Seattle University, 7-0, inside the Lewis-Clark State Tennis Center in Lewiston.

The Redhawks (1-2) took the doubles' point with three victories, though the Yotes tandem of Chenjerai Simpson and Mark Malmstrom played tough at No. 1 - losing 8-4 to Flavio Malagetti and Tom Plunkett.

Baseball

yotes open season with 7-2 win 

Izaac Garsez went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two stolen bases, leading The College of Idaho to a 7-2 victory over Wayland Baptist at the NAIA Desert Classic in Anthem, Ariz.

Chad Yeggy and Taylor Nicholson combined on the seven-hitter, not allowing an earned run, as the Coyotes (1-0) opened the 2012 season with the victory on a 75-degree day in the desert.
