Track & Field

record setting day at idaho cup 

Andre Archer won the men's triple jump, leading a record-breaking weekend for The College of Idaho track and field teams at the All-Idaho Collegiate Cup, hosted by Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.

Archer broke his own school record with a leap of 46-2 1/2 - good enough to meet the NAIA "B" qualifying standard.  It was one of seven school records to fall in the two-day meet, while 26 Cascade Conference qualifying marks were met.

Tennis

lady yotes lose at puget sound 

The College of Idaho women's tennis team opened a quick two-match road trip with a 9-0 loss at the University of Puget Sound, tonight in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers (6-8) won all three doubles' points, with the Yotes putting up a great effort at No. 3, as Tanya Greenwood and Nicole Cammann fought to the end in an 8-6 loss to Holly Dixon and Nina Ho.  Shae Stults moved up to No. 1 in the singles' ladder and played well in the second set, falling 6-1, 7-5 to Maddison Holtz.  UPS won the remaining matches all in straight sets.

Baseball

yotes split doubleheader at concordia 

A pair of strong pitching performances helped The College of Idaho and Concordia University split today’s NAIA West Grouping doubleheader in Portland, Ore.

The Coyotes (24-10, 9-5) won Game 1, 11-1, while the host Cavaliers grabbed Game 2, 7-1.

Chad Yeggy tossed the second complete game by a C of I pitcher this season in the opener, allowing eight hits and one earned run to log his sixth victory of the season.  The senior walked just one and struck out five.

Golf

lady yotes remain at #18 in NAIA poll 

The College of Idaho women's golf team remained at No. 18 in the second NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll of the spring, announced this afternoon by the national office in Kansas City, Mo.

It equals the highest regular-season ranking for the Lady Yotes, who were ranked No. 20 last season.  The C of I was No. 17 in the preseason balloting, released in November.

Softball

softball games shifted to sunday-monday 

Weather in the Pacific Northwest continues to cause softball coaches in the Cascade Conference to alter schedules - including the Lady Yotes trip this weekend.

Instead of a Friday-Saturday road swing, The C of I will play a doubleheader at Southern Oregon on Sunday morning, followed by a Monday twinbill at Oregon Tech.  Both will begin at 11 a.m. (PT)

The rescheduling adds to two other doubleheaders this season that have been moved to new dates - April 10 at Eastern Oregon and April 17 vs. Northwest Nazarene in Caldwell.

Baseball

yotes stop nnu, win season series, 3-1 

Parker Vernon took a shutout into the sixth inning of his first collegiate start, as The College of Idaho pounded out 16 hits en route to an 11-4 victory over Northwest Nazarene in the final game of the season-long Canyon County Clash at Wolfe Field.

With the win, the No. 22 ranked Coyotes (23-9) claimed the season-series from the rival Crusaders, three games to one.
