Baseball

big coyote rally stuns NNU, 13-11 

Rallying from a nine-run deficit after three innings, The College of Idaho scored 11 unanswered runs to stun rival Northwest Nazarene, 13-11, in Game 3 of the Canyon County Clash at Elmore Vail Field in Nampa.

Three different Coyotes (17-6) recorded four-hit games, as The C of I pounded out 18 hits to take a two games to one lead in the series.

Baseball

nicholson named ccc pitcher of the week 

College of Idaho right-hander Taylor Nicholson was named Red Lion-Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The junior, from Emmett, was dominant in his start last Monday against Simpson, tossing eight shutout innings in a 9-1 victory.  Nicholson allowed just three hits - with just one runner reaching scoring position. while striking out three.

The Coyotes return to action tomorrow, traveling to Northwest Nazarene for a single-game at 3 p.m.

Softball

skinner earns 3rd CCC weekly award of 2012 

College of Idaho sophomore Nickayla Skinner was honored as this week's Red Lion-Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The Mountain Home native had an outstanding weekend in the circle, helping the Lady Yotes to a four-game sweep of NAIA indepedent, British Columbia.  Skinner went 2-0 with two saves in four appearances, recording a 1.17 ERA.

Golf

thurston named ccc Golfer of the week 

College of Idaho senior Tyler Thurston was honored today as Red Lion-Cascade Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, announced this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The native of Eagle earned the accolade for the second time in his career after earning medalist honors in last week's dual match with rival Northwest Nazarene.  Thurston shot a one-under 71, including a four-under 32 on the back-nine to lead all players in the Thursday match.

Women's Basketball

hughes named daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete 

College of Idaho senior Meghan Hughes was honored today as a member of the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team, released prior to the national semifinals at the national championships in Sioux City, Iowa.

Hughes, from Eagle, was one of 162 student-athletes honored for being at least a junior in academic standing and maintaining a 3.50 cumulative grade point average at their current school.

Young, from Leesburg, Va., was one of 106 student-athletes honored for being at least a junior in academic standing and maintaining a 3.50 cumulative grade point average at their current school.

halfpipe closes out uscsa nationals 

A pair of third-place finishes by The College of Idaho women's teams in the halfpipe closed out the 2012 USCSA National Championships at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine.

Softball

lady yotes run winning streak to 11 

Nikki Shumway had four hits and three RBI in the opener, and Kayla Park did it with her arm and bat in Game 2, as The College of Idaho extended their win streak to a school-record 11 games, completing a four-game sweep of British Columbia with 6-1 and 5-3 wins at Symms Field.

The Lady Yotes (17-3), off to their best start in the 11-year history of the program, broke the old win streak record of 10-in-a-row set during the 2007 season – rallying in both games with fourth inning outbursts.
