menlo wins naia west tournament with 5-4 victory
A Michael Brandi RBI single in the top of the tenth inning plated the winning run, as Menlo College defeated The College of Idaho, 5-4, to win the 2012 NAIA West Grouping Championship in Portland, Ore.
The Oaks (29-25) won the title for the first time ever, joining the 2002 Coyotes and the 2009 British Columbia teams as squad winning the title through the losers' bracket. Menlo clinches their first-ever berth in the NAIA National Championships, while the Coyotes must wait to see if they will receive an at-large bid.
