Point park stops coyotes, 7-3, at world series 

Ossie Alfonzo drove in three runs, including the go-ahead RBI single in a five-run fifth inning rally, as Point Park University defeated The College of Idaho, 7-3, in Game 1 of the 56th Annual AVISTA-NAIA World Series at Harris Field.

The Pioneers (52-9) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to win their first Series game since the 1987 season, ending a nine-game skid.  PPU will meet Lee University in Game 7 of the tournament, tomorrow at 3 p.m.

four named daktronics naia-scholar athletes 

Four College of Idaho track and field athletes were among the 605 student-athletes honored today as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, announced prior to Day 2 of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Marion, Ind.

Andi Hayes, Hailey Bull, Elynn Smith, and Andrew Hugill were honored for having being at least a junior in academic status and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better at The C of I.

The College of Idaho made their final preparations for tomorrow's AVISTA-NAIA World Series opener against Point Park (Pa.) with a whirlwind day in Lewiston.

womens 4x800 wins heat, breaks school record 

The College of Idaho women's 4x800-meter relay set a new school record in winning their heat to highlight Day 1 at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Marion, Ind.

The Lady Yotes bested a field of eight teams with a time of 9:13.06 - nearly five seconds faster than the school mark.  It was the fourth-fastest time in the prelims and qualifies the team for the final.

Three College of Idaho softball players were among the 308 student-athletes honored today as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, announced prior to the semifinals of the NAIA National Championships in Orange Beach, Ala.

Junior Molly Mills and seniors Nikki Shumway and Jordan Huttash were honored for having being at least a junior in academic status and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better at The C of I.

Senior James Collet and juniors Cassie Low and Chenjerai Simpson were honored for being at least a junior in academic standing and maintaining a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average at The C of I.
