College of Idaho athletic director Marty Holly has announced today that Brian Smith has been named Director of Soccer at the College and will assume the head coaching duties of the women’s soccer program.

gibbens leads NAIA WEST GROUPING TOURNEY 

College of Idaho junior Trish Gibbens shot an even-par 72 to share for the Day 1 lead at the 2012 NAIA West Grouping Tournament, at Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, Calif.

Gibbens is deadlocked with Concordia's Sunny Powers atop the leaderboard in the six-team field, four shots clear of CU's Sara Molyneux and Holly Speer, along with Point Loma Nazarene's Kathleen Crossley.

griffiths named NAIA West pitcher of the week 

College of Idaho right-hander Todd Griffiths was honored today as the week's Red Lion-NAIA West Pitcher of the Week, announced this afternoon by the league office in La Grande, Ore.

The senior, from Meridian, was stellar on the mound in a pair of appearances, as the Coyotes won 3-of-4 games against Menlo College - lowering their Magic Number to clinch the NAIA West Grouping Tournament No. 1 seed to one.

track named ccc team of the week 

The College of Idaho track and field team was honored as Verizon-Cascade Conference Team of the Week, announced tonight by CCC Commissioner Rob Cashell.

The Coyotes had a banner weekend - competing at both the Oregon Relays and the Northwest Nazarene Invitational.  C of I athletes combined to record eight NAIA national qualifying marks, recorded eight school records, will winning nine overall events at the two meets.

humberger wins #400 in yotes split with menlo 

A five-run seventh inning rally in Game 1 gave College of Idaho skipper Shawn Humberger his 400th career victory, as the Coyotes and Menlo College split an NAIA West doubleheader at scorching Wolfe Field.

6 NAIA Marks, 8 records, 9 wins at NNU 

College of Idaho athletes earned six NAIA National Championship qualifying marks, won nine events, and set eight school records this afternoon at the Northwest Nazarene Open in Nampa.

Andre Archer uncorked a school-record leap of 47-6 1/2 in the triple jump, hitting an NAIA “A” standard in winning the event.  Austin Basterrechea won the long jump with a season-best mark of 22-0 1/4.

coyotes earn key twinbill sweep of menlo 

Tyler Andazola went 6-for-9 on the afternoon and Jarel Lewis added five hits as The College of Idaho moved its record to 10-2 during the month of April, sweeping an NAIA West doubleheader from Menlo College, winning 5-4 and 14-4, at sunny Wolfe Field.

The Yotes (34-12, 19-7 NAIA West) rallied from a 4-3 deficit in Game 1, getting an RBI ground out by Jeffrey Harris in the eighth to tie the score and Todd Griffiths scoring the winning run in the ninth on a throwing error.

#7 oit sweeps Lady Yotes 

A dominating day by Taylor Schmidt put The College of Idaho playoff hopes on life-support, as No. 7 ranked Oregon Tech swept a doubleheader from the Lady Yotes, winning 2-0 and 10-1, at Symms Field.

OIT (34-7, 17-4 CCC) secured at least a share of the Cascade Conference regular-season title, while the Lady Yotes will need Concordia to lose five of their final six games and Southern Oregon lose 2-of-3 to advance to the playoffs.

yotes hit two "A" marks at U of O 

Greg Montgomery and Hillary Holt each hit NAIA "A" qualifying marks, leading The College of Idaho contingent at the Oregon Relays, hosted by the University of Oregon, at historic Hayward Field.

Tennis

Men's SEASON ENDS AT BOISE STATE 

The College of Idaho men's tennis team closed out the 2012 season with a 6-0 loss this morning at NCAA Division I Boise State at the Appleton Tennis Center.

The Coyotes (5-9) played well against the Mountain West Conference regular-season champions, despite losing each singles' match in straight sets.  Mark Malmstrom had a quality 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 2 singles' against the Broncos' Andy Bettles.

It was the 26th-straight home win for BSU (24-6), while it ended a three-game win streak for the Yotes.
