Hello to all of the loyal Yote fans from Sioux City, Iowa!
We left Saturday morning with anticipation and excitement for a 20-hour bus ride that would take us to the place we’ve worked all year to reach. As our journey ended and we drove off of the freeway, seeing the Tyson Event Center in the distance, we had the confidence that good things would happen to us this week.
The events started Monday morning, when we had practice in the gym, followed by a Special Olympics volleyball workshop with local children. It was so great to meet so many talented and enthusiastic children, and to share the sport that we love with them.
That night, we attended the Banquet of Champions, where all 25 teams gathered to celebrate our accomplishments and enjoy a night of speeches and awards.
Tuesday was Game Day! We played Indiana Wesleyan University, and won in an intense 5-game match. On Wednesday, we played Kansas Wesleyan University and won in 4 games. Winning those two matches ensured that we would move out of pool play and into the bracket tournament on Friday. Today, we play Concordia University Irvine, the #1 ranked team. We are really looking forward to showing everyone in the gym what being a Yote is all about!
More updates to come!
