Last week was probably the hardest week I have had all summer and for good reason. Last week was the first week of preseason training for both the men's and women's soccer teams.
As a member of the team we have to arrive on campus early to practice, usually twice a day. It is a nice time of year to be hanging out in Caldwell, because the campus is not lonely any more, but is beginning to click into gear. Other teams are also here on campus, like the women’s volleyball team, cross country team and also some resident assistants getting the dorms ready for everyone to move in.
For the soccer girls, we spend a great deal of time working hard every day under the sun, passing fitness tests, kicking balls and scoring goals. We had our first scrimmage against Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) on Saturday. Despite the heat, we ran hard and finished with a score of 3-0. As a reward, some other girls and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant Tacos El Ray (highly recommended by most students), picked up some food and headed back to the field to watch the men’s game. They also played TVCC and won 1-0.
On Sunday we finally had a chance to rest our legs, but this week it’s back to practice twice a day and then we are travelling to Utah to get some more games in.
