College Dorm Life

When I was a high school senior, I wondered what life was like in a college dorm.  Naturally I asked around and “googled” it, and tried to learn more about what it would be like to live in a college dorm. Of course, nothing on Google prepared me for what I was about to encounter.

Happy Labor Day…not

Bummed about not having today off of school?  You’re not alone.  However, you will soon realize that there are some serious benefits to our school’s tradition of not recognizing most weekday holidays in favor of the week-long mid-semester break.

The Spice of Greek Life

I’m back in Caldwell. I still haven’t unpacked the majority of my stuff, but I’m already enveloped in the warm, soupy mess of people, easy-mac, and porch-talks. Being “home” has allowed my mind to drift back into its usual cycles. A lot of that means the re-emergence of thoughts generally focused around one of my obligations as a Delt: recruitment.I serve on my chapter’s recruitment committee as its chair. I oversee the general activities of our chapter in regards to this vital process, and draft most of the plans for the events we hold when freshmen are interested in rushing.

I am here! :)

I’m here! All these weeks of planning have finally come to an end. It all started on a Sunday. After a sad round of goodbyes to everyone I love, I was off on a four hour drive to Caldwell, Idaho. It was a sad day.  I was lucky enough to move in early because of a debate retreat, and even with the extra time, it took me around 12 hours and a couple of trips to Wal-Mart to settle down and have my room perfect.

Welcome Home!

A big welcome to the Class of 2015 and all returning fellow Yotes!  After leaving the Club Fair tonight, I was thinking about how great our campus is.  It was so nice to see familiar faces intermixed with the new freshmen, all ready to start a new year, and excited about the opportunities that are ahead.

I know that the other bloggers and I have written a lot about what we love about our school, but it’s time to hear from you!  Let’s start a conversation about what we appreciate most about C of I.

Idaho Bound

Who knew an eight hour car ride could be so mundane? Oh that’s right… I did.  The trek across the Washington, Oregon and Idaho state borders could not have been more uninteresting.  Granted, it was beautiful weather, and the gorgeous landscapes and cornucopia of recently burnt cd’s helped pass the time.

Highlights of the trip:

Yotes in CA

Remember when I said that I feel like I have two different lives?  Well today, my two worlds collided.

Summer fun

There’s so much to experience here in the Pacific Northwest, I wanted to share a few photos from my recent adventures.

My boyfriend took on the eighty footer here while cliff jumping at Banks Lake, Washington.

The view of Mt. Rainier from the top of Crystal Ski Resort! We had perfect weather!

Did you go to that?

A lot of people fear the power of online social networks, the pervasiveness of their existence and the level of intrusion into their lives. The jury is still out on a lot of the implications that arise from this new phenomena of our culture, and I’m still not sure how I feel about a lot of what’s happening within this mostly unexplored frontier.

What to do?

By Madai Montes

It’s so close; I can smell it! College! The dorm life, the awesome campus events, the life changing classes; I cannot wait for this experience to begin! The countdown is beginning to come to an end, and by the end of this week, I will be making my next post as a college student. However, no matter how excited I am, I am still extremely stressed. So, because I hope this doesn’t happen to any other incoming freshman, here are some tips on what to do once school starts to sneak up on you.
