C of I Teams in Top-20 After Day 1

Both College of Idaho swim teams are in the Top-20 after Day 1 of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Coyote men advanced to the evening finals in the 200-medley relay, placing sixth in the consolation final with a time of 1:43.73.  The C of I currently is in 14th-place overall with six team points.

The Lady Yotes failed to qualify for the evening session with their 200-medley relay mark of 2:04.43, but the Yotes placed eighth in the consolation final in the 800-free relay - recording a time of 8:55.37, the second-fastest time in school history.  Chrissie Younggren set C of I's 200-free school record with a lead-leg time of 2:05.85.  The Lady Yotes are tied for 17th-place after the opening day.

Tomorrow, both C of I teams will compete in the 200-free and 400-medley relays, with Younggren and Lucas Hill competing in the 400-IM and Jeremy Erbsen in the 100-backstroke.
