Collet Named AAA

College of Idaho women’s golfer Trish Gibbens and men’s tennis player James Collet were honored today as first-team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, announced by the CoSIDA office in Towson, Md. 

Gibbens, from Caldwell, and Collet, from Pocatello, were honored as part of the at-large team, comprising the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.

Collet Honored

Trish Gibbens and James Collet were honored today as Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 at-large team selections, released this afternoon.

Gibbens was one of 10 players honored in the College Division on the women's side – encompassing schools from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, while Collet was honored on the men's side.  The at-large team comprises the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and men's volleyball.

Trio Earn NAIA Honors

Three College of Idaho tennis players were among the 207 student-athletes honored today as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, announced prior to the semifinals of the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, Ala.

Senior James Collet and juniors Cassie Low and Chenjerai Simpson were honored for being at least a junior in academic standing and maintaining a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average at The C of I.

Yotes End Season at BSU

The College of Idaho men's tennis team closed out the 2012 season with a 6-0 loss this morning at NCAA Division I Boise State at the Appleton Tennis Center.

The Coyotes (5-9) played well against the Mountain West Conference regular-season champions, despite losing each singles' match in straight sets.  Mark Malmstrom had a quality 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 2 singles' against the Broncos' Andy Bettles.

It was the 26th-straight home win for BSU (24-6), while it ended a three-game win streak for the Yotes.

Netters Stop TVCC, 8-1

Playing their lone home match of the 2012 season, The College of Idaho swept all three doubles' points en route to an 8-1 victory over Treasure Valley Community College at the Laura Moore Cunningham Courts.

Both Chenjerai Simpson and Mark Malmstrom at No. 1 and Zach Buker and Thomas McMahon at No. 2 fought back from early deficits in their matches to post 8-5 victories over the Chukars.  Joel Hernandez and James Collet made quick work at No. 3, blanking Tyler Silieve and Cristian Sinchey, 8-0.

Tennis Match Rained Out

Today's women's tennis match-up between The College of Idaho and Treasure Valley Community College was rained out before its completion - according to head coach Cisco Limbago.

Yotes Blank TVCC

The College of Idaho men's tennis team won their second-straight match, sweeping Treasure Valley Community College, 9-0, in Ontario, Ore.

The Coyotes grabbed all three doubles' points - including a solid 8-4 victory by Chenjerai Simpson and Mark Malmstrom at No. 1 over Brad Perkins and Woody Anguiano.

In singles' play, Malmstrom earned a quality 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Paul Spivey, while Taylor Gordon won his first match of the year, 6-1, 6-2 over Cristian Sanchez at No. 6.
